Each August there would be a televised competition with each prefecture deciding which ALT would be their idol for the upcoming year.

This should definitely be a thing

Right? Honestly, I’m enterprising. also, @sagaprefecturejet , the contest would be a great addition. I’ve got to think of a whitty name for it.

Here’s some sample song titles for you @akhet:

“Mascot no Ai” a song about the love of our prefectures mascots with a whopping 47 different version on a two-disc, limited edition CD

“Let’s hanashimasu!” a song about talking together with our students and others; its lyrics intersperse English and Japanese

“Eikaiwa Blues”, a crooning tune about a teacher missing a dinner date because of an emergency class

“Tokyo-yasumi!” a song about a break in Tokyo that was certainly hard-earned, and the adventure of finding new friends and making more language connections.

“Para-Para-Yokai Party Tonight!” a song for Halloween where we sing about a party with yokai and connect a foreign holiday with indigenous HJapanese culture respectively.

My personal favorite idea is “GT-FO”. A loud, brash bash session against all of the guys I’ve known who’ve joined JET so they can be “just like Great Teacher Onizuka!” Get it? GTFO? GTO? It’s a pun.

(Also, are guys really making that pun? Geez, time to catch up fellas, am I right? and how many men do you know making that joke? You’re definitely in my thoughts.)

Known for a sound that is most definitely like no other, it’ll make you get up and dance and also want to overthrow the patriarchy! Standing for Great Teachers From (All) Over, this group of 18 altos from all 9 of Japan’s major regions will be coming out soon to croon and make you swoon!

Their first album, “My Angel’s Cruel Theses” features a smattering of hit 90s anisong: really, it only features a wonderful 5 covers of Cruel Angel’s thesis, including the innovative, fresh remix Zenzenzen, which features the opening line to the entire beat of the song and uses over 25 different languages to sing it! The limited edition comes packed in with six additional, never recorded versions of the song, including a remix set to international meme “We Are Number One!” alongside a poster, shirt, and signed photobook of all the members.
