jay decides to forget about the letter cuz of friendship/jesus

matt tries to read it anyway cuz obviously he wants to punish jay for even thinking of leaving

jay “reads” the nice version of the letter

matt STILL tries to get the letter and read it. even after he gets jay to declare he’d be happy to go to the ends of the earth with him he STILL wants to expose his original intentions and force him to address it/make him regret it

only after jay desperately chases him around does he decide to rip it up. probably figures it’s not worth it right now, jay’s happy, might as well take the win. and then 🎆

idk it’s just like. So clear how scared matt is. and how he knows deep down no matter what lengths he goes to to scheme jay into staying, no matter how wholeheartedly he gets jay to promise it, it’ll still never be enough. the feeling the fireworks scene gives me is indescribable but i feel it in every cell of my body. the relief of getting away with everything he just did is overshadowed by the knowledge that it isn’t the last time he’ll have to pull tricks out of his sleeve, and who knows if he’ll manage it next time? and does it really matter anyway if it wasn’t out of jay’s volition? does any of it mean anything at all?
