I started watching the W after Hali got traded to Indy + started attending fever games, and then when AB got drafted I got into it more & I really love how entwined the pacers and fever are

Once CC got drafted there were little things here and there + once Cunningham arrived it got harder, but I loved AB + Kelsey before they got there and it felt unfair to stop supporting black women for their white teammates actions. And the last playoff run happened and neither CC or maga barbie were playing and that run felt magical, so I thought maybe it was going to be fine.

I guess I didn't want to concede a space that I was in first to racists and bigots who got there after me.

This season has been too much though. I've had a really tough time with the decision, AB is still my favourite player but I can't watch Fever games at all. It's moved so far beyond "not doing enough to condemn" to "deliberately weaponizing a racist mob" and the Fever organization as a whole has utterly failed, in ways that legitimately endangers Fever players and fans, and the fans and players of teams who unfortunately have them on the schedule.

I'm legitimately heartbroken for the queer women and women of colour who supported the fever for more than two decades and have had their space decimated and invaded by these people who truly do not care about womens sports and just want a cudgel to use against minorities.
