Hey! It’s me again, the person who wrote about the Belpholo IDO AU. After seeing someone else post about a harem AU, I really wanted to discuss mine with you, hehe.I once read a fanfic about Belpholo where Belphie was forced to work in the student council with Diavolo after school as a punishment for what he did to MC. That got me thinking about an AU where Belphie’s punishment is moving into Diavolo’s castle as a servant (I actually saw a fic with this premise too, but sadly it wasn’t Belpholo). After his actions, Belphie's relationship with his brothers is already ruined, and moving out only distances them even more. Left alone with all his guilt, Belphie comes to a huge realization: it was actually Diavolo who saved Lilith by letting her reincarnate as a human. This makes Belphie see Diavolo in a completely new light. He used to think Diavolo was just a stupid, spoiled prince, but he turns out to be the one who saved his beloved little sister (and even though Diavolo asked for Lucifer’s loyalty in return, he never used it against Lucifer himself).Diavolo is deeply upset by Belphie's actions. However, thanks to his ability to detect lies (and therefore, sincerity), he is the only one who sees just how much Belphie truly repents, even if he is bad at showing it.As for MC, after being murdered (like any normal person would react), they ask to be sent back home. After everything that happened to them, nobody can say no.When the truth about why MC left and what Belphie did finally comes out, both demons and angels riot. The high-ranking demons, who never liked the brothers because they are fallen angels, see this as a perfect chance to accuse Belphie of treason against the future king's orders. Meanwhile, the angels want to cancel the exchange program entirely, reasoning that if someone tried to kill a human, they might try to kill an angel next. The brothers have to fight for a long time just to keep Belphie from being executed. For his safety, Diavolo temporarily moves Belphie into his castle. Once the brothers manage to get him pardoned, Diavolo officially makes Belphie a servant in the castle. He justifies this to the demons and angels by saying that in the castle, Belphie will be constantly busy and closely watched by the other servants, Barbatos, and Diavolo himself, just in case he tries to pull anything again.(Diavolo would love to just keep Belphie in the castle for no reason and help the brothers clear his name, but as the future king, he can't show that kind of favoritism without a political reason. I mean, Belphie literally tried to ruin his reputation and destroy his dream, so Diavolo can't just say, "Hey, I like him, let's just forgive him.")
And just a few final thoughts! Gosh, I ended up diving into Devildom politics and the exchange program issues again. I love this topic way too much, and I keep dragging it even into an AU that's supposed to be focused on romance, haha. But I really love the concept of Diavolo being bound by his position as the future king. He can be naive and reckless at times, but when it comes to politics, he simply has no right to let his personal feelings influence his choices (like trying to bail Belphie out). After all, the entire future of the Devildom is in his hands.Honestly, to me, MC leaving after being murdered is the most logical thing that could happen. I just don't believe that an exchange program built on kidnapping a random human without their consent could ever succeed on the very first try.And if you think about it, it’s actually quite sweet. Belphie could go through a real redemption arc — not just with words, but with actions. He could help save and relaunch a brand-new exchange program by pointing out its flaws to Diavolo, speaking from his perspective as someone who was originally against it. Isn't it romantic? Fixing the political problems of three realms while slowly realizing your feelings for each other. Oh, Diavolo would absolutely fall in love with him all over again seeing how hard Belphie is working for the sake of his dream!Okay, politics aside, here is what's really important: why does nobody talk about the fact that it was DIAVOLO who saved Lilith?! In the game, the fact that MC is Lilith's descendant plays a huge role in changing Belphie's mind. But for some reason, this logic is completely ignored when it comes to Diavolo. Like, if it wasn't for Diavolo, Lilith would have just died without ever reincarnating. It's so obvious how much Lilith matters to Belphie (and the rest of the brothers too). You’d think the fact that she got to live a happy human life thanks to Diavolo would massively impact the brothers' relationship with him, especially Belphie's.Also, just imagine being in Diavolo's shoes: the love of your life wanted to kill (and almost succeeded in killing) the very people you wanted to become friends with, nearly destroying your lifelong dream, haha. Sweet. What do you guys think?
Hiiii again!!!
lol sounds like the fic by my friend demoncow perhaps? I love that one too
Yassss, I love the idea of Belphie working in the castle so Diavolo can protect him. It’s so true that Diavolo has to walk a very tight path of wanting to be a good king and still being a person with wants (he could just marry Belphie but that would be a whole new can of worms)
I always love Belphie helping Diavolo out with politics, I feel like Diavolo appreciates Belphie’s advice more because Belphie doesn’t mince his words and isn’t worried about upsetting Diavolo by not agreeing with him. It’s cute to think of Belphie seeing all these new sides of Diavolo and slowly falling in love, and Diavolo’s love deepening for Belphie as they grow even closer.
It’s basically impossible to remove politics from Diavolo…sometimes I wish I was better at exploring those kind of topics lol. I do love the idea of Diavolo having to come to terms with Belphie hating (and seeing how far Belphie would go to destroy Diavolo’s dream) but still love him….oooh unrequited love Diavolo you poor man.
Though interestingly, I do have an au where Belphie becomes Diavolo’s servant as punishment for killing MC, but Diavolo isn’t in love with Belphie yet and it’s a little bit of a weird time travelly one.
I do feel like people forget about Diavolo saving Lilith, it’s kinda brought up just to resolve the tension at that part but then never mentioned again? Cause like that would improve his and Belphie’s relationship. You can also get fun angsty ideas of like if Belphie was dying or something and then he can ask Diavolo to make him a human too. Yay
Thank you for the beautiful ideas anon!
