Vance sighed. “Yeah… Well… I mean, dey don’t like us bein’ in no relationships or somethin’. Das just stupid in my opinion… We’ve got somethin’ T’ fight for, ain’t dat all we gotta do?” He asked.

“It is stupid. This whole company is stupid, but the is pay killer, so I stay.” The was a few minutes of silence before she turned to face him. “I don’t think I’ve told ya my name yet.. ‘S Hunter.” 

“Das a cool name.” He complimented. “Sounds really cool. D’ya hunt at all? Wouldn’t dat be ironic as hell?” He snorted. “Name’s Vance.” He said with a chuckle. “Ain’t nothin’ compared t’ Hunter.”

“Thanks…” Good, at least somebody around here understands what it’s like to be so responsible at such a young age. “Okay, so I might be steppin’ boundaries here.. But why are ya so upset? I mean, like, ya don’t have ta tell me if ya don’t want ta. Jus’ figured I mine as well ask since I brought it up in tha first place.” 

Vance sighed. “Well… M’ boyfriend left t’ anotha’ base. I guess I just miss ‘im. He was th’ RED Scout b'fore ya. I write ‘im every day. No reply yet. I… It’s been a week.”

She walked back over and took a seat, her back leaning against the fence next to him. “That blows, man. If it’s any consolation, I came all tha way from Coldfront. By car it’s a good 6 days with stops. He’s probably jus’ distracted by tha move. ‘M sure he’ll get back ta ya soon.” 

Vance nodded. “Yeah. Okay. I’m usually th’ one t’ go to Coldfront, so I just take a single suitcase. They switch me a lot, but not Ry.” He said with a small sigh. “I hope he’s settling in okay…”

“Sorry, man. I know it sucks. I left someone back there too.” She sighed as well. “I’m not eve sure why we were switched, ta be honest. I was doin’ well ova’ there, an’ from what you’re tellin’ me, Ry was it?.. He seemed to be doin’ fine here. If I can be honest here, I think they just like ta fuck with us. Let us settle in and then rip us away.”
