summary: during a halloween party, dean di laurentis meets his match. it turns out that it's actually his best friend's sister in a magic mike costume.
The air in the party felt thick with beer and other sweet drinks. LED lights changed color and shots were given out in every corner of the room. Despite it being exactly like what you were used to, you felt so out of place. Fiddling with the red tie that hung loosely around your neck, you wondered why you’d let Hannah and Allie persuade you into coming to the halloween party. Especially in this costume.
The group had decided to dress up as Magic Mike, Hannah got blue, Allie got black and you got red. It had been decided during a late night in your dorm, after way too many shots of tequila. You laughed despite yourself, putting some fake dollar bills into the burgundy lacy bra that you’d bought just for the party. Your plans for this party included two things: get as drunk as possible to forget the assignment that was due on Tuesday which you hadn’t started, and avoid your brother Beau at all costs. The feeling that he would shut the party down if he saw you dressed like this lingered in your mind. So, you laid back, even if you just wanted to go to the middle of the dance floor and show off. Everything was going according to plan, until you decided to go fetch a drink.
Suddenly, you bumped into someone on your way to the kitchen.
“Shit, sorry” You whispered, not bothering to look up.
“Holy shit, am I hallucinating or has Mini Maxwell finally embraced her full potential?” You recognised that voice in a heartbeat. Fuck. You didn’t need to look at him to know who he was, but you did anyway. Dean Di Laurentis, or a mildly drunk version of him, stood in front of you wearing a Top Gun costume that made him look a little too attractive and a grin that should be punishable by law.
“Bold of you to say that out loud, Di Laurentis. My brother could be right behind you, and what you said wouldn’t make him too happy.” At this moment, you were grateful for the fact that Dean couldn’t make out the blush that started spreading through your cheeks. Even if he couldn’t see it, you were sure he’d sensed it, because his own only grew wider.
“Even if it wouldn’t make him too happy, I’m sure it’s made you feel good, am I right?” You were sure that alcohol was speaking for him, but you couldn’t resist the urge to draw this out a little longer.
“Even if you did, my attention comes with a fee tonight, Goose.” You replied, intentionally getting the name wrong despite it being written on his right pec.
Dean leaned in, his mouth just above your ear. His voice shifted into that low murmur that made your knees shake. “I’d be more than happy to pay up, but for the record, I’m definitely the Maverick in the pair.”
“If that’s what helps you sleep at night” You bit back, chuckling. He raised an eyebrow, his grin shifting into a smirk. The tension between you and Dean was so palpable you swore it could be sliced through with a knife. His breath felt hot on your skin and you were standing so close you were practically touching.
I can’t do this. You thought, images of him and Beau messing around playing in your mind. But he was so close to you and so attractive it made you want to be annoyed. Dean was about to open his mouth when he heard Hannah call after you.
“Girl, come back here now. You’ve been gone for wayyyyyyy too long, come dance” Hannah was evidently drunk, but you didn’t want to be responsible tonight. Before breaking free from his arms, you grabbed one of your dollar bills, kissed it with the full intention of leaving a red stain, and placed it in his pocket.
“I guess I’ll see you around, Di Laurentis” You said, smiling at him.
“Yes ma’am” He replied, raising his solo cup at you, smirk intact.
Moving away, you grabbed the drink you’d originally come to get and downed it in only a few seconds. The fuzzy sensation spread through your body, and you headed to where Allie and Hannah stood.
“Wasn’t the guy you were talking to Dean? You know, your brother’s best friend and also Garret’s best friend” Allie asked, a teasing smile spreading through her face.
“No. That was totally another person” You replied, shaking your head in a sarcastic manner. You grabbed a shot someone offered you, hoping it would make the way he left you feeling go away. It didn't, and Allie just started laughing.
“When I said you should let loose tonight, I didn’t mean it in a kiss-your-brother’s-best-friend kind of way, for the record” She said.
“And who says I’m gonna do that?” You asked, furrowing your brows.
As if the world was working against you, the song Pony started reverberating throughout the house. Everyone around you and your friends started screaming and asked you for a dance. Out of a whim, you glanced at who was choosing the music. Next to the makeshift DJ, you saw Garret, Hannah’s boyfriend, and his other friends next to the booth. Logan’s smile widened and Tucker pointed a finger at you. From the other side of the room, you saw Dean walking towards you.
The song felt like it was flowing through your veins, and you knew this was a bad idea. But with lowered inhibitions you didn’t see reasons to back that up. So you beckoned him forward.
“You have to pay up if you want a dance, pretty boy. And I only take secrets as payment.” You said, running your hands through his blond hair that felt so soft it was unfair.
“Done. I’ll tell you tomorrow.” He winked, placing his hands on your hips.
You swayed to the music, rolling your hips against his and moving your hands below his shirt, tracing the line of his abs. He slowly sank to his knees and your stomach flipped, goosebumps appearing on your skin. You pulled on his hair a little, a smug grin appearing on his face, which you desperately wanted to kiss off.
Unnoticed by the two of you, everyone was watching. Garret, Logan and Tucker were cheering while Hannah and Allie looked at each other with concern, albeit too drunk to act on it. You slowly unbuttoned the lower part of his shirt and no sooner had you done that than he pulled your back flush against his chest. His lips traced your jaw and your neck, not daring to place kisses on them. You leaned into him for a few seconds, relishing in how it felt. It was as if the world had disappeared, and there was only you and him on the dance floor. His hands traced every part of your body and played with the straps of your bra. It felt as if you couldn’t get any closer, yet you were dying to. Somehow, he ended up shirtless, with you placing it on the back of his neck to pull him closer. As if meant to pull you out of the trance he’d left you in, the song ended and the house felt like it was shaking from all of the screaming and whistling people were doing.
You stood on your tiptoes, lips brushing his. Despite the fact that every fiber of your being was telling you to kiss his plump lips, you managed to have some self control and pull away.
“I’ll be expecting that payment bright and early, Di Laurentis.” You said, blowing him a kiss. And with that done, you turned around, ready to leave the party.
“Aye, Captain” He called out, a laugh escaping his lips.
Dean stood right where you’d left him, his hands covering his mouth. In that instant, the same thought crossed both of your minds.
P.S: the part three to my exchangestudent!reader SMAU is in the works!!
