And when you go out, Will you invite me? I just need someone that makes me feel complete
I saw the cosmos alive in your eyes Before I dropped you off at your dayjob We made galaxies with our hands at night Ignited oxygen and prayed for response
Itâs cold outside, so we meet indoors And bounce our feelings off of hardwood floors I could count all those here among my friends But I still keep wishing that this night would end
they say hell is other people But I canât stand to be alone Distant from the dissonance I canât own up to things that I believe

I felt like driftwood today And you all floated away
We fall asleep with the TV on Been in the dark for far too long Donât want to turn on the lights Donât want to see what weâve become
The riverâs moving fast, but we still shatter it like glass We float like driftwood with the current at our backs And Iâve been trying to sober up, but youâre pouring whiskey in my cup And Iâm reminded that some things can never last
Youâve never heard anything like their debut LP Driftwood Songs, and thatâs because no one is doing quite what the Idaho based quintet is doing.
wooowwww alright Iâve been feeling better the past couple weeks than i have in the past six months and today is the first day of spring and this album has arrived and itâs perfect and the literal soundtrack to me bustin out of this horrible depressive state and I feel a little bit reborn. Okay Iâve been actively waiting for this album to drop for MONTHS and I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait. I love this band with my whole heart and I will be listening to You and Me, Unbound for the rest of this day/my life.

This is a b-side from our album Driftwood Songs. All proceeds forever & always from this song will go to the Women's & Children's Alliance of Boise. The WCA is a local organization providing services to women, men and their children healing from domestic abuse and sexual assault, as well as providing shelters and counseling for those in need.

Idaho outfit Western Daughter conjure up the misplaced reality of losing a loved one and trying to come back from the abyss.
Hey, weâve got a new record titled âDriftwood Songsâ coming out March 24th via @t3hrecords on LP/CD/Digital and today weâve teamed up with GoldFlakePaint to premiere the first single from it. We hope you enjoy!
âExhibition on Main St.â Lyrics:
I wrote your name in the wet cement and I felt stupid yeah, i have to admit, but i was trying to create something that would outlive me and anytime that i'm falling apart i feel the guilt creeping in from the start and then I wake up from a dream drowning in an empty sink youâre the wet paint sticking to my feet i drag you out to the dirty street i wanna trace you back, i wanna make you feel complete we fall asleep with the tv on been in the dark for far too long don't wanna turn on the lights don't wanna see what we've become well living out on the east side felt like dying but living now on the north side, we're surviving so I've got nowhere to be, and god damnit i miss you so where are you gonna be, when I finally reach you?
I wrote your name in the wet cement and I felt stupid yeah, i have to admit, but i was trying to create something that would outlive me
Pre-Orderâs available now on Take This To Heart Records website.
Way Out West: Western Daughter

To be entirely honest I never really thought much of Boise, Idaho. My mother grew up near there and painted a pretty bland picture of the region, and therefore nothing from there ever really peaked my interest. It wasnât until I met one of my now best friends, whoâs from the area, that I began to pay attention to the city. Iâm glad that I finally caught on, because Western Daughter is my latest Idaho discovery and gee are they something to pay attention to. Opting out of the traditional twinkly sad boy emo sound, this band chose instead to go for a more fun, jazzy, not quite country influenced sound that works so well itâs ridiculous. Thereâs definitely a part of me that just adores emo music that isnât all so whiny, so that undoubtedly plays a part in my affection for this band. Vocalist Taylor Hawkins has a voice thatâs just unique enough to give them an edge up on their traditional emo competitors too. Something about his delivery is so matter-of-fact and instead of feeling like heâs pleading, it feels so much more honest and true to actual emotions. The lyrical content itself has a sense of maturity that sets Western Daughter apart.
My personal favorite track âMy Room is a Messâ is infectiously catchy and finds a way to make chain smoking at 3 am sound groovy. Another highlight of of their first EP As the Sun Went Down is âDonât Ever Leaveâ with those indie guitars that make you feel like youâre floating, that Iâm just a sucker for. This song sounds like pure summer nostalgia to me, itâs a warm and fuzzy light as a feather feeling. (Did that description even make sense?) In addition to their jazzy indie emo sound, theyâve released multiple acoustic songs, and acoustic versions of previous songs. Their latest EP Wild at Heart, which was released last month, commits to the more acoustic sound, and itâs nice change of pace from their first EP, showing theyâre more than a one trick pony. I love this because it makes them so much more dimensional. Theyâre good at more than one thing and they make that known and available.

They really play on what Pinegrove has made popular, without sounding like a Pinegrove rip off, itâs nice to see more artists pushing the boundaries of genres and playing around with different sounds. Hawkinsâ voice transfers flawlessly between the two sounds, and maintains the bandâs distinctive sound in both. While guitarists Cameron Brizzee and Taylor Raymond have a talent that is showcased across both sounds as well. Quite simply, Western Daughter has a good thing going, itâs not like everything else out there right now and thatâs really exciting to me. Iâm excited to watch this band grow, and hopefully eventually get the notoriety they so much deserve.
