i think after some longer time apart when they finally meet and get to bed, ilya pushes inside shane and. just breaks. starts sobbing right into shane’s shoulder blades from how much he missed him and his body and his presence and his shaney and how much it kills him to be apart and the whole song and dance they’re having to deal with.

i really really love that ilya who grew up in a very homophobic country with a homophobic family in a very masculine homophobic sport, has no shame around his sexuality. he has long since accepted that he's bi and has no shame around it, he has no shame around having gay sex or finding men hot, the struggles around his sexuality always stem from outside factors, but never from shame. i love ilya saying okay so you're gay, so what? because the act of being gay, being attracted to men, having sex with other men is such a non-issue for him when he could easily have internalized that shit and he also doesn't want it to be shameful for shane. instead he's like i love men, i love having sex with my husband who is super gay and i'm not feeling even an ounce of shame about it

i love when certain very specific things just gets accepted in fandom as if they’re actually canon and everyone just agrees that yes ilya is addicted to phone games and he spends too much money on candy crush and cliff marleau is a little bit bisexual (or ilya-sexual) and very unaware of it and also the biggest himbo you’ll ever meet and of course shane invents sex acts out of his own beautiful mind

you don’t understand how important it is to me that ilya has svetlana. both of his parents are dead, he doesn’t talk to his brother and he moved to a foreign country alone at 18. he obviously has shane and now shane’s parents but there a things that only a childhood best friend who speaks the same native language and grew up in the same place could understand

I have this fic idea and I can't get it out of my head so basically the gist of it is Shane gets injured or learn something that stops him from playing hokey permanently after world juniors and the commercial, but before their first season starts so they still hook up that one time, but it stays as a one time thing Shane doesn't know what to do, but he still has a brand deal with a bunch of companies, and they can't fire him on the account of the fact that he had to retire before he could ever play and Yuna is like 'don't worry baby hockey might not have worked out for you, but I am still going to get you that bag.' Bc she doesn't want Shane falling off the deep end so she signs Shane up to a modeling agency and Shane goes along with it bc hockey was his life and now its gone so he needs a new purpose bc he can't exist without one and since Shane is gorgeous already media trained and experienced and has sort of a brand they have no problem finding him jobs so he ends up becoming a very famous male model and still does all of his previous brand deals he thinks what he had with Ilya was a one of and never sees him again bc why would he without hockey he still has some unresolved resentment towards Ilya bc he got to be the best while he stayed behind doing what he had to do instead of what he loved unlike ilya and after a short period of celibacy and being a workaholic he starts dating rose that part goes exactly as it is in the og story meanwhile ilya keeps winning with no real competition he still loses Olympics and still his first cup after that but after that he kind of falls to a slump where he kind of loses his ambition and love for the game meanwhile he is still crushing on Shane and is mad as fuck that life got in the way, and he wants to call him, but he just can't for the same reason Shane doesn't want to answer he is mad that they can't play and that anger keeps him away from Shane he still hooks up with guys and girls so as he is in the original timeline Shane and rose start dating in 2016 and ilya who is devastated by the news gets careless 2017 ilya's dad dies ilya goes to Russia gets back decides 'fuck it I am never going back and comes out to the raiders.' the team is dumb but sportive they win their second cup together meanwhile Shane breaks up with rose tries dating a couple closeted models and actors (including Adrien de la Cruz) he hates most of them realizes people in his industry aren't really his type decides to come out with a very planed sophisticated photo shoot and interview combo after a short while ilya gets outed in like a very embarrassing and bad for business way and The Raiders PR people are like we need to fix your branding you are a walking stereotype and ilya is like this is my chance so he makes his people call Shane’s people and is like 'you are example pretty tragic gay I am problematic bisexual I need to be more profitable to the public we date people like me again you get extra publicity.' and Shane agrees bc he low-key kinda wants to see if ilya wants to hook up again, and so they start to date for the cameras meanwhile they are both pining silently and Ilya is like 'I think he really likes me.' and the raiders are like 'bro that's like thinking the striper loves you for real.' so they are stuck in this limbo of constantly having to hang out together but not actually doing anything scandalous bc they aren't actually dating, but they end up developing a reluctant friendship and then fell in love and then their pr people are like you can break up now mission successful but they both think the other is going to break it off so they are both tragicly dancing around each other until one of them finally confesses, and then they live happily ever after and Ilya's friends are still surprised how he pulled Shane and Cliff cries at their wedding and confesses ilya had a crush on Shane since his junior days which the team kept as a secret bc they wanted to give Ilya time to come out to them himself and Shane turns to him and is like wait you too? And they still have no chairs.
