So, continuing on to my Tf x Cars/Planes post that I posted on the day I started to write this post (let's see how long it takes for me to write this one). I'm going to ramble about it.
1 Vorn = 83 years (This is important to know going forward)
I'm very tempted to give Dusty propeller daggers because in my AUs, helicopters and warframes that have propeller/copter blades can detach them to use as weapons, and while he doesn't look like a warframe (keep this in mind for later), I think it would be interesting for him to have them especially if he takes them out to fiddle with when he is nervous or bored, or if he has learned to throw knives because of it.
It takes Dusty 6 months to get his firefighting certificate instead of the few weeks in the movie because the quick little research I did said firefighter training takes 6 months to 2 years, depending on location.
Blade & Skipper are father figures to Dusty (I don't like the Blade x Dusty ship). Cabbie is like an uncle to him as well.
I'm also kinda tempted to have Slingshot take Skipper's place, have Blades takes Blade's place, & Chase take Doc's place. I'll explain why now, but just as a reminder, this is just a hypothetical change, not actually canon to the AU, and PLEASE still read this section due to it having lore that counts to the rest of the AU.
The Autobot-Decepticons War did happen (lasted for ~96,385.5 vorns), but humans weren't a part of it and don't exist in the story. Keep this in mind going forward.
If I do change it, this will be changes and the backstories that I'll use:
• Slingshot is a veteran of the war but left the Autobot faction to become neutral somewhere near the end of the war after he was sent out without the other Aerialbots but with a squadron that he had trained and something similar to what happened with Skipper in the movie happens and Slingshot is the only one who lives and something in his mind snaps and he just leaves, not wanting any part in the war.
He did formally leave because he got a discharge for medical reasons from First-Aid, who he was close with. The reason he was able to get a medical discharge was because he had trouble flying afterward and just didn't want to fly anymore.
The other Aerialbots didn't know what happened and didn't even know Slingshot left until after they came back from the mission they were on, and Slingshot wouldn't answer any comms from them besides one call from Sliverbolt to tell him he was fine but was not coming back.
Slingshot moves to Propwash Junction a few years before the war ended since it was basically unknown to anyone who didn't live in the county its located in and the planet it was on was a neutral space, and he moved there around a vorn before the story starts.
He has a father-son relationship with Dusty, much like Skipper. Unlike Skipper, He knows Blades because they were friends before the war but lost contact with each other due to the war and Blades going into stasis. He was quite happy to learn that his friend had survived and got back into contact through Dusty.
Man, I ranted about Slingshot for longer than I thought I would. Anyways.
• Blades! Unlike Blade, he was Rescuebot & Protectobot who specialized in Search & Rescue and was the Griffin Rock Rescuebot's EMT. Griffin Rock was a neutral space and just as crazy as it is in tfrb even without humans there. He was in stasis for most of the war, only a few vorns in the beginning and a few at the end. The reason he was in stasis was the Rescuebot genocide that started a vorn or two after Sentinel's death.
My reason for him going into firefighting is weak and may change, but it's because Heatwave got severely injured during a fire and the team had difficulty putting the fire out without him which lead to several deaths that Blades blames on himself because he was the EMT and should've been able to save them and should've been able to put the fire out if only he had the training Heatwave had. The Griffin Rock team splits up a few years after the fire for an unrelated reason.
It's after that when Blades decided to become a firefighter and goes to Piston Peak for his certification. He decides to stay and later becomes fire chief.
I'm not super sure on what Blades would do in the story but this is what I have so far,
When Dusty arrives, he is more amused than angry with him but acts like he's angry with him because he wants to see how Dusty will react.
Blades acts as another father figure to Dusty.
• Chase I'll probably explain in another post because, apparently, this one is mostly centered on Planes.
Ripslinger has murdered other racers before Dusty, but since he lived to tell his tale, Ripslinger is now under investigation, but his sponsors & other allies keep finding ways to delay or halt the investigation so the investigation is still on going by the time Dusty becomes a firefighter.
On the top of Dusty being a firefighter, he would also go on to become a Rescuebot (even if I don't make Blades take Blade's place), so he would work both for firefighting and search & rescue.
Dusty & Lightning know each other because Dusty once had a race was just outside of Radiator Springs, and the town had a little public event for the racers, that is when the two first met, but the time they met and actually befriended eachother was when Lightning was invited to race in Piston Peak for a fundraising event that was during fure season and Dusty was there as backup incase something happened that would call for backup.
What actually happens I might make into a short story, but the basics of it is that something causes a fire, a bunch of racers get trapped (this is after Dusty becomes a Rescuebot) and Dusty is sent to help get them out of danger. Lightning decides to be the last to go because he's the least injured, and when Dusty is bringing him to safety, they start talking and due to them getting along pretty well, they decide to stay in contact.
I'm going to put this here just so people don't have to go read my other posts, but fliers can fly without being in their alt-modes. The only ones who are weird with it are helicopters, who, since their propeller is usually located on their backs, have to fly really weird, mostly so their heads don't get sliced off

It doesn't look as derpy when they are actually flying because their wings and arms aren't hanging down, and most fliers have their backs to the sky anyway but it just looks so funny when they're hovering because they can't really angle their back so they can't be upwards.
Just because it's funny and I have read a few fics where this happens, if Ripslinger was ever at the same event as Dusty and tried to cause some shit with him while his friends and the other firefighters are there, I'd imagine one or multiple of them would threaten him.
When Dusty gets his radar/antenna knocked off during The Race, it causes an open wound for energon to leak from, causing him to lose fuel much faster even if was a relatively small wound.
Dusty, Chug, El Chu, & Lightning aren't allowed to do things without supervision because of an Incident. Because they seemed to bring out the stupidest in eachother (Dottie says that their braincells are allergic to eachother).
The Smokejumpers are barred from being their supervision because they'll just encourage any stupid ideas.
Dusty had insomnia when he was younger, but after he became a racer, he would basically fall into recharge the moment he laid in his berth. This worried his friends at first because it was such a quick flip, but then they (mainly Dottie & Skipper) came to the conclusion that the reason he had insomnia is because he had a lot of excess energy that racing was using up.
Dusty's creators were a warframe flier (carrier) & a civiy/"normal" flier (sire) [Transformers are asexual in my universe but can reproduce with eachother through a few different ways which I talk about in a post about my main TF AU]. His carrier disappeared a few years after he was born (She died, but I'm effy on how she died) and his sire was not the best parent to him. Dusty was supposed to be a warframe like his carrier, but his sire screwed with his code and his frame & processor upgrades so he would turn out as close to a civiy flier as a warframe could get which screwed Dusty's life up as he grew.
Dottie is used to his weird frame since she grew up fixing him, but when Maru and any other medic/mechanic looks at his frame, they're extremely confused by what they're looking at because that's not what a civiy frame should look like, especially for a mech so young. Before Maru decided to look deeper, whenever someone asked him why he was like this, he would just shrug and say his sire told him that he was just born that way.
Then Maru decided to look deeper, particularly at Dusty's code (this would be when Dusty was in his coma at the end of Planes: F&R). He was horrified when he figured out what Dusty's sire did and told Blade in order to ask him what they should do, Blade then decided to ask Cabbie and contact Skipper since because both of them were warframes and he had no idea what to do.
They thought up two options, 1. They leave Dusty's code as it was because they didn't know what would happen if they tried to change/fix Dusty's code, or 2. They wait til Dusty was fully healed from his crash and then find a way to try and change/fix Dusty's code to the best of their ability and see what happens.
They decided to wait til Dusty woke up so they could include him in the decision since it's his code that they would be messing with. When he did wake up and they told him what they found and the two options they thought up. He picked the 2nd option; after 1-2 months, he was fully healed, and they started the process to fix his code.
He is now a weird mix of warframe and civiy frame with his frame leaning more towards warframe (which he is very happy about)
Despite many of their ages, the only fliers that served in the Cybertronian Civil War (CCW is what I'll be referring to it going forward) were Skipper & Cabbie because they were born on Cybertron and both entered it on the Autobot side.
Skipper mostly just taught other soldiers, and while he only had one mission with the Wrenches, he did fly other missions (did you see how long the war was? Of course he flew other missions in this AU). He actually met Cabbie when he brought supplies and medics to the base where Skipper was stationed after it was attacked.
That being said, Cabbie was a military transport who carried soldiers, medics, and supplies (mostly energon & medical supplies). He didn't do much actual fighting unless he was attacked first and would use a blaster he has in his subspace (he still has it in the story because veterans of the CCW were allowed to keep their weapons).
Neither of the two realized they had met each other until Dusty & Dynamite (in this AU they both love learning about history & geography) found a picture in an Autobot newspaper talking about how the base was attacked with both of them in it and both of the veterans had a chuckle over it.
When Dusty was getting his firefighting training, his racer friends sent him pictures and news about what & how they were doing and what was happening in the racer world.
Dipper isn't as... weird as she is in the movie, but she's still fairly obsessed with Dusty and the other racers and loves to ask him about his races and how it was being a racer.
Ages (these aren't set in stone and are just approximately how old they are):
Windlifter - 80,250 vorns
Dusty - 6 vorns (he would be the Cybertronian version of an 18 year old)
Mayday - 125,000 vorns (Old man)
Okay, that's where I'm going to stop this post for now. I'm probably going to start on another post about this AU after this or try to get one of my other posts done.
I am also drawing human forms for some of the characters in the story because I’m not good at drawing Transformers and is still learning how to draw them.
