Frankie’s buzzed, just a little bit, just enough to let his shoulders SAG and his tie come undone. The kind of buzzed that turns HARD thoughts into easy words, into lighthearted jokes that dare poke fun at their baggage. He’s irreverent tonight, refuses to let his regrets get the best of him ––– at least until the alcohol wears off.

he let his head fall back, a burst of laughter emerging at the man’s words. he allowed a touche to fall from his lips as the bartender set his usual down in front of him. this man was pretty damn funny.
“ it lacks commitment because i’m lazy as hell, francis. ”
cue habitual drink of alcohol here.
“ what would you suggest? chainsaw? ”
his tone was drenched in humor as he set his glass back down upon the counter top. the taste was bitter and he preferred his own herbal mixtures, but sometimes the stronger stuff was necessary.
“ maybe the power of dance? ”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m nowhere near buzzed enough to find that funny, y’know.” It was easy to laugh at a comment like that now, but she was definitely going to regret having him see her in the state she was currently in the next morning. “Nope. I’m usually pretty good at hiding it, but I figured I deserved a break from the old bump and grind. Is that the right term? I don’t know.”
“ if you had a sense of humor you’d find it funny while sober. ”
“ y’know, when you called ... i thought it was for a different reason. that not that i don’t LOVE playing babysitter ... i don’t, but that’s not the point. ”
❝ Um, what? No…❞ Natalie tried to defend, but then realized he really couldn’t have meant any harm, and laughed. She felt natural with the topic when talking about it like this, and was irritated that she kept trying to tense up and psych herself out. For once she felt like she was having a totally normal conversation. It was nice, actually, and Natalie shrugged after taking another sip. ❝ –Well, like, I mean, I was surprised, so… I don’t think I really thought anything except oh. my. goodness. Like lucid dreaming, ❞ The blonde added seriously, feeling quite clever for the comparison, and smiled brilliantly as she gestured to him, sipping on her non-alcohol drink. Pretending to be drunk and tell secrets was fun.
❝ Come on now, your turn again. I don’t have any other good stories, but I’m just dying to hear yours.❞
he smiled and dropped the subject. natalie seemed very casual given the topic and her reputation at the church. while it’s normal for him to be perfectly fine with it, he was still a little surprised that the blonde was so cool and collected. she also appeared slightly uncomfortable, but given a different reasoning he would assume.
“ y’know, i’ve got a f e w, but i’m gonna need a signed waver from jack before i go into specifics. ”

he balanced on the edge of the sidewalk, weaving back and forth as he tried his best to shoot his glass in a nearby garbage. he missed. after mumbling some inaudible profanities, he made his way over to the bottle and finished the job with a swift toss.
