There's a very funny thing that happens in transhuman science fiction where sometimes an author will turn out to be a reactionary conservative who thought he was writing dystopian fiction and intended all the sickass radical body modification stuff to be scary, but he assumed that was obvious and forgot to put it in the actual text.

My dad borrowed the neighbors ladder. As soon as it touched the roof I pulled it up too. By the time I had 3 ladders they were willing to negotiate, and 2 hours late for work.

i remember there being a couple of posts on here that got fairly popular presenting not hitting your kids as like a "white people thing (derogatory)". Literally woke apologia for hitting kids.

as someone living in a country where it is in fact forbidden to physically punish your children the first thing my mum taught me was that it is not only important that the parents know it is illegal but also that the CHILDREN know. as a small child or even as an older child who gets punished physically the chances that you actually know that what's happening isn't just Wrong but also Officially Illegal are slim to none. so i've been witness to her going up to parents who were threatening or hitting their children more than once. every time she told them very politely "hi sorry, i hope you're aware that it is illegal to hit your children. should i call the police or will you stop doing that on your own?" and the parents would look super pissed off but the kids would look very suddenly very interested. especially older sisters always seem to take the information that it is in fact okay to call the police if being hit by their parents very seriously. and one time my mum did call the cops. on our neighbour. never saw that guy again but his son to this day comes over to say hello every time he's in town. so be kind to your children. protect other people's children and help them protect themselves too.

There's something kinda funny about how RWBY just absolutely refuses to die despite a constant stream of adversity. The first season was objectively hot garbage but it still got a second season. The creator of the series whose passion project the whole thing was passed away in a freak accident after the second season but they just kept going without him and somehow a significant portion of the fanbase went along for it. The budget got slashed in Season 5 because of gross mismanagement but no worries! The fans stuck with it and they got it back for Season 6. Then a few seasons later the entire company that's been producing it went completely tits up and we all assumed THAT would be the end but nope!!! They got bought by Viz. RWBY has now outlived both the man who dreamt it up and the company that produced it. In an era where numerous streaming shows get axed after one or two seasons despite being critical successes with large fanbases it is completely baffling that a show that is so consistently troubled and infamously has an extremely mixed reception cannot be fucking ended despite all indications to the contrary.
