According to a 2021 interview with former Retro Studios developer Bryan Walker, who served as Senior Development Director on Donkey Kong Country Returns, Shigeru Miyamoto spent his initial meeting with Retro Studios to discuss the vision for the game talking in Japanese as usual.

However, at the end, he said one line in English: "Please take care of DK. He is my friend."

Top left: in the character selection screen of Super Smash Bros., the icons have a flame image behind them.

Top right: the flame is actually taken from a commercial stock texture CD.

Bottom: this allows the Mario icon to be recreated in extremely high quality, since his artwork is just a render from Super Mario 64.

Time shenanigans....

This was an attempt to mimic the style found in TWEWY's renders on the DS, utilizing Index Coloring.

And I made an Overworld sprite for Rindo to go along with it. Expect more fake screenshots like these in the future.

This also marks the third time I've made a sprite of Rindo in this style. I'm getting better at mimicking it, I think.

The One With Recycling. - Witt

You're playing around in the yard with your friends. A kid with wild hair comes running with a girl with blue hair in tow and starts digging between the bushes, only to fly off again when he's found some orange ball.

You're watching the martial arts tournament and start running for your life when one of the contestants - the kid from above with the wild hair - turns into a giant ape and goes ham.

You're being tyranized by the Red Ribbon Army and suddenly a feral boy comes running and beats them all to a pulp.

King Piccolo takes over the world and a day later he's being finished by a tiny kiddo on an orange cloud.

You get killed by some random monster and a week later you're resurrected.

Sometimes the sky gets dark and a green dragon appears. Well, whatever they got going at Capsule Corp. again, you just figure you better mind your own business.
