What I’ve learned from my Twelve seconds on earth is that The human specimen Tends to linger on love when Their capacity of loving Does not last any longer than A simple snap of the fingers So pardon my skepticism when I read about the love of all ages Please do pardon the shortcomings Of my jaded turned nature It’s been a long twelve seconds And I don’t think I’ll be planning on Sticking around any longer I simply have no faith in ever getting A return for my time-investment

I’ve never touched your skin I’ve never tasted your kiss I’ve never felt your softness I’ve never grasped your hand

But in my dreams We’ve found the heavens Your eyes aglow with starlight A whimper at my touch Your quivering lips so sweet As you clutch at my skin Our bodies attempting To become one And for a blissful moment We succeed

I’ve seen your smile I’ve heard your laugh Yet never face to face Have we been joined

But in my dreams We’re walking hand in hand Your presence, soothing Heaven is real with you Walking down the street Just being alive Breathing in your energy Before we dive between the sheets To drain ourselves Dancing together again

I’ve never met you But in my dreams We’re together And we’re happy

In my dreams We’re real While in reality We’re just dreams

There are so man

But we’ll never reach one

They may even be dead

these days they care more

for presentation than substance

it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it
