The After Party || Nelson & Cassie
"Yikes, that sucks," he laughed at her clumsiness. Not in a mean way, of course, but overall Cassie’s stories were pretty hilarious. She amused Nelson. "Well, now you know. You’re pretty—" He had meant to add an adjective to that, but it just wasn’t coming out of his mouth at the moment. "Yeah, you’re pretty," he concluded seconds later, feeling a little like a foolish loser. It was clear that he wasn’t alone in whatever he was feeling for Cassie, but it was still so hard to talk about it. Or come close to mentioned the topic, really.
Nelson took his index finger to his lips and shushed her. He changed the channel to MTV and held out his hand for her to get up from his couch. “You won’t fall,” he laughed and started moving awkwardly, purposely being worse than the regular badness of his dancing was. “I’m suck so much harder than you,” Nelson grinned. “Is that, uh, a serious offer?” The boy asked, stopping his dancing completely and just looking at her, piercing her pretty brown eyes with his own and biting on his lower lip gently. What were they going to do with themselves now? It was stupid of him to think she was being anything near serious, but Nelson still did, because he wanted it to be.
"Yup," he confirmed with a short nod. "You quoted him on essays? Cass, you’re a genius. I never thought of that," he tapped her shoulder as if congratulating her for her cleverness. The girl was pretty resourceful, which was something convenient in your academic career. "It doesn’t sound like my kinda thing at all," Nelson blinked. "Y—yeah," he stuttered. Before he could even take a deep breath, Cassie pressed her lips against his and he reciprocated, placing his arms around her just for closeness.
She laughed as he paused, before shaking her head in response. "Well, uh, thanks. But I'm not that pretty. There are prettier girls than me." She said with a shrug - Not that she minded as much. She wasn't upset about it, or anything. She was just... Cassie. Nothing special, but she was good enough for herself, and that was all that really mattered, she guessed. "You're pretty too." She muttered, before a grin spread on her lips. "Or handsome. What do boys like to be called?" She asked, tilting her head to the side in question as she waited for a response, brushing a piece of loose hair from her face.
She took his hand as she stood up, her eyes focused more on the tv screen than the boy in front of her - It wasn't Cassie's fault. Maybe she was just a little too shy. "Do you.... Want it to be a serious offer?" She asked with raised eyebrows as she looked at him, biting her lip as she waited for a reply, looking up at him in anticipation.
"Yes I did - And so I've been told. I guess you could say that my middle name is genius." She said with a smile as she glanced over at him, running a hand through her hair. "Really? Why not?" She asked as she glanced across the room. As they kissed, Cassie wrapped her arms around Nelson's neck, leaning closer as she did so - This was nice. Really nice.
