Succession Resources

As I’m attempting to organize the scattered bits of Succession lore and headcanons as provided by the actors and/or the primary creative directors (Jesse Armstrong and Mark Mylod), I thought it might be helpful to create a pinned menu for folks to navigate lore posts more easily. The goal here is just to make this material accessible, not to impose any strict reading on the show or to dictate what is or isn’t a “right” reading. The positions here are simply reposted for general fandom access.

Of course - happy to walk through my thinking. I think you're referring to the tags on this post, which discusses how Logan may have been physically abusive or violet with all of the Roy boys at various points. In the tags, I mentioned Austerlitz, and the scripts from The Disruptor and Honeymoon States as consistent with the general ideas Jesse lays out.

Honeymoon States has the dialogue that directly hints at physical abuse, but I think The Disruptor gets more at Logan's more explosive anger and how just about any of his kids can end up on the receiving end of that without intervention. The scene I had been thinking of when writing my tags was the scene where Kendall comes into Waystar in advance of the firmwide meeting:

Just to be clear, this is definitely not direct evidence of physical abuse. But I can't help but look at it in connection with (a) the scene in Austerlitz, where Logan advances on Kendall in anger in Connor's kitchen and (b) the scene in Argestes where Logan backhands Roman. While not all the same, these scenes are, to me, in conversation with one another and paint a pattern of behavior around Logan, his children, retaliatory violence, and anger.

In each of these scenes, Logan's anger and negative emotions explode out of him in an act of physical aggression. In Austerlitz, he's held back or stopped by Marcia. In The Disruptor he's held back by distance and various other people. (see above). I read each of these moments as similar in emotional cadence to each other and to the scene in Argestes. In each, Logan is angered by something his kids have done and in a snap moment of anger and, to some extent, retaliation, he lashes out physically.
