Why do you think our men and our coaches donāt feel like they can speak on this topic?
I donāt know what they feel, because they donāt talk about it. I donāt know where they stand, because they donāt stand forātheyāre not outwardly standing for anything.
You canāt just hide behindāI know that the English men wanted to wear the captain band withāI think it was gonna say One Love, which Alex Scott wore as the commentator. Thatāsāthatās great, itās a step in the right direction, but I need to hear yourālike, when you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are. Tell us who you are. Tell us what you stand for. Tell us what youāre about.
I havenāt heard one player step up and say āThis is absolutely unacceptable. FIFA needs to do better. Iām here because, you know, Iām supporting my country and my team, but I also support the LGBTQIA+ community. Iām an ally, and this is not fucking right. And this is not sending the message we want for progress.ā
Not one person has done that.
Thatās the difference between the men and women. Iām willing to lose it all, to fight for what I believe in, because if I canāt be meā¦I canāt give this country all of me. I canāt give my team all of me. Iām cheating the game.
Itās not just a job, itās something completely different. Youāve been given a platform that literally changes the narrative, changes the country. When you talk, people listen.
What are you fucking saying?
Are you just hiding behind the sport because you think, like, āThis is the culture weāve createdā?
