you know you posted a hot take when you get anons thanking you for the post lmao, but no seriously thank you anon! I know that post i originally was responding to would’ve been very similar to what i would’ve said some years ago given the situation but the older i’ve gotten and the more places ive visited in the world it really is important to try to keep in mind that the american framing is not how the rest of the world always sees things. (and even tho the og post is obviously making fun of europeans with use of the å and whatnot it’s still a form of racism but that’s a story for another time) i think it’s hard to understand from an american perspective that soccer is very important to people of other countries but especially countries poorer than the US. if you are from a nation with not much access to money or infrastructure soccer is the easiest game to fundamentally understand and uses basically the least amount of equipment possible and that’s a HUGE reason why i think it’s shitty to dismiss soccer on the basis of “it’s another dumb sport”
