After almost not coming with them for some reasons, I came to Turkey. Not just as a layover, but to see this splendid country that has truly amazed me. After 4 years and counting, 3 countries after, a splendid beach in the Philippines, lots of overnights in Qatar hotels, movie nights and chika days, here we are in Turkey. It was a chilly week but my heart is overflowing with the warmth of friendship and love from the both of you. I may not be as showy as I am but I am always grateful for the abundance of love, patience, and kindness from the two of you. I shot this while our tour guide was busy on explaining how it was created eons of years ago. It was about to rain and we are prepared as we brought our umbrellas. I was super excited because it was the golden hour or my favorite sunset but lo and behold the sky went dark! But still it looks magnificent and I wanted our tour guide to stop talking because some of our companions from the tour such as the Korean family went back downhill back to the van and the Chinese group went to get some shelter from a picturesque small store that was owned by an old baba. The one who stayed was us girls @reggdelaganar & @yengsai1102 with the super fashionista Turkish couple. I get a bit sad as the tour guide was explaining that after a few years, due to erosion and change of different weather, these may be gone if not preserved. We would have explored more of these beautiful mushroom fairy chimneys if it did not rain. While under the old man’s shelter, we get to explore some of the trinkets that he was selling and we get to play with his dogs and cats as a treat. Woke up on the wee hours of the morning to catch up the sunrise with the massive 150 balloons flying everyday. Despite the cold temperatures, we are stoked on seeing them up high in the clouds and quite near to us in the valley. Tourists like us flocked to get a lot of snapshots with the balloons as backdrop. I was giddy as we saw the balloons were set up from lying lifeless in the grounds to a full blown form full of air. It was like being in a movie or in transcendence. The sun gazing in the sky with streaking orange, red and yellow were seeping in the horizon making it all the more beautiful. This was a shot taken early in the morning as we wade our sleepy and tired bodies though the valley. It was freezing cold at this time(around 11-16 degrees centigrade), but the water was tepid hot. These cascade, terrace look-alike was a sight to behold at. It may look cold because of its white appearance, but it was super comfy to bathe and waddle in the water. The source of the lukewarm water from the volcanic lava that dissolves pure white calcium gave its white appearance and it solidifies turning into what they call as travertines or just like terraces to me. We walked into the vast hard travertines on barefoot prior to going to the Antique Pool and the Hierapolis back and forth. We were still lucky because the lowest travertines does not have a lot of tourists. Either because it was too far, very hard to climb or trek on barefoot and the tourist buses cannot go on to these side. We also woke up early to get a glimpse of these majestic place with the beautiful sunrise. Our view from our hot air balloon basket. We were so anxious from our trip from Denizli to Cappadocia as we thought that our hot air balloon experience might become a fail as there were strong winds and some other people whom we know had their bookings cancelled and they did not get to experience flying up in the air. As the scheduled day was upcoming, we have been praying for a good weather even though it was freezing cold. We woke up at wee hours in the morning for this. As we approach the valley where we will be departing the balloons, I was super excited and giddy as a kid as we saw lots of balloons being lit up! It means that we will be able to fly! Not just what I saw in the movies or pictures but to be able to experience it was a surreal feeling. It was an another tick on my bucket list. I was super grateful for the lovely time and special experience. The Pigeon Valley and the Love Valley are so picturesque up in the air. Even if it was a bit gloomy and cloudy, it was still amazing! At the end of our 1 hour and 17 minute journey(supposedly for an hour only), the pilot, Mr. Bekir Dursun, gave us glasses of wine to celebrate our success in flying. Certificates were handed out as a mark of our successful trip. It will be one of my most unforgettable and a mark on my bucket list event of my life. Overlooking Pammukale beyond the travertines. It was like a small hike as we walked barefooted to protect the calcium deposits and to preserve its beauty. These may seem like snow, but these are the Travertines in Pamukkale that serve as bathing pools during the Roman times. The lava that oozed from the volcano has calcium on it creating these majestic and pristine white color formation that looked like terraces. The temperature in the morning was at 11 degree centigrade but the differing pools were warm and cozy to swim and wade in the lukewarm water. It even has a lot of health benefits as when you go to a thermal spa. The hardest part was walking barefoot on a huge mass of terraces. We learned how he influenced the country. Like Mao, Chiang is regarded as a controversial figure. His alliance had credited him by having created a major part in unifying the nation and leading the Chinese resistance against Japan, as well as with countering Soviet-communist . Critics had denounced him as a dictator at the front of an authoritarian regime who suppressed opponents. Critics estimate that the Nationalist government was responsible for millions of deaths. More of the day 2 temple hopping tour. It was a humid and warm day but totally worth visiting even if we were sweating like pigs. We were able to know how they pray to the different buddhas, how history has affected the present Thailand, and how they become resilient after the turmoil they have to endure. Filipinos and Thais may somewhat look alike but different in a lot of ways. “Kimi no Na wa” tripling with these two! We begun our temple trip hunting in the morning after our fun food trip at Ratchada Night Market. We spent half a day trailing with our tour guide @nook_meii as we traverse from one temple to another. He gave us tips on where to shop, the best foods to eat, and what are the best milk teas in Thailand. We learned about how to properly respect the Temples which is important as we went along to visit the temples. Traveling with these two was always high with endorphins and very carefree and chill. With my new family! I get to meet these intelligent, super fun, and exciting kids for a day. They are Kaleb, Kaley, and Kalen! (I hope I got their spelling right!) It was fun and super memorable because of these kids and I hope we didn’t annoy our tour guide, Allan that much!😆 Their mom Barbara was super cool and engaging as well. My parents had a blast because they attended to these kids and they can keep up with their energies. The Taroko trail was super fun and I get to exercise with nature! Their trails are well paved and I get to experience these with my parents. I was thinking that they may get tired but wow they amazed me! (Tip: Better tell your parents to exercise and drink enough vitamins a few weeks before the travel.) This was really memorable for me because it is our first trip abroad as a family. It was also a 1 week well spent birthday celebration for my dad.
