Avoiding anything too specific, but there is a set of glasses armor. If you try to equip them to Noelle (as impossible as giving her Susie Tea) she will say "That's too much like..."

The implication is obvious, Dess wore glasses too.

Human Dess and the Knight being one and the same.

I just realized that the Knight has holes in their hands, and it immediately reminded me of Christ—sacrifice, suffering, and the idea of erasing the sins of humanity. What if Dess’s body is being used in the search for her soul in order to bring her back, and in doing so, absolve the sins of Carol and Kris?

Being too human feels wrong because it's a reminder of everything she isn't. Being too much like a monster feels wrong for much the same reasons.

The Dark Worlds split the difference by turning her antler headband into a sick ass helmet that hides everything about her that she doesn't want to think about.

Ouuu that would be perfect especially how I also support the dead is the knight theory!! And also that's crazy coincidence coz I was thinking of making my next post on her dark world form 🙏🙏

follow up of my theory for dess :)

I see the dynamic between Dess and her mother as that of an authoritative mother and a rebellious child. In this interpretation, Dess is human and was forced to act like a monster, with Carol imposing that image onto her adopted daughter because of her position as the mayor of the monsters.

What really sells me on this theory is the family photo and Dess’s room filled with shoes that no one else in her family would realistically wear. The family picture parallels Kris wearing fake devil horns to blend in with monsters, so from a storytelling standpoint, Dess could be a parallel to Kris: someone forced to wear fake antlers, not by choice, but because she was expected to “fit” the role of a monster.
