feel like giving up on this muse tbh.
like for a starter!

Fully ready for his comments to be written off as idealistic, or some folly of romanticism, he was delightedly surprised when the Champion made a comment of understanding. That—that soothed his soul a bit, knowing someone such as she, who went through and had this history now inked into their pages (quite literally, even), was not cynical enough to write it off as mere hopes or wishes. He nodded, comforted by that bit, and further amused when the question that quipped up from Hawke. Dhruastun’s expression was lit with it, a smile showcased and laugh barely contained. "Not yet, although I don’t doubt that it will eventually come. I, thankfully, haven’t had much interaction with Templars, even before the Inquisition.“ He had a different sort of force that had kept him constrained, although he didn’t know if it was a better sort or a worse one. Still, it was something that could happen. The Inquisition was a strange blend, all rallying behind the Herald and the idea of fixing the wound left by Corypheus. "If they do start, I imagine giving them a little trouble would be frowned on, at least if it was blatant. What do you suggest would be the best way to handle that?”
It’s not a question she had expected him to ask ---- & she is certain that her ways of dealing with such situations would not be at all appropriate. Hawke has a habit of causing trouble, & she wouldn’t like to be a bad influence ( at least, not in this case ).
❛ Honestly, I would report it to Josephine. She’s amazing, & totally terrifying. How I used to deal with Templars is probably not necessary now. ❜
A hand is dragged through her hair, already messy, & she dares to offer a grin. It’s pleasant to find someone to talk to ---- after all, she is quite the controversial celebrity to many. Not all in Skyhold have welcomed her reappearance. It rankles a little, but Hawke can hardly blame them. She set things in motion that she could never have stopped, not once she had started them on their path.

Water spills between bloodied fingers as he washes worn hands clean after a heavy healing session with a patient now bandaged and resting. Anders barely hears anyone new come in, only noticing when he turns to see her in a chair and staining it fresh in new spatters of crimson. “For you? Always.” Yet the look he gives Hawke is an equal mix of concerned and suspicious with the slow tilt of an eyebrow.
“Do I… want to know why you’re tracking blood everywhere or is that just another ‘occupational hazard’ kind of thing?”
❛ Huh? Oh, no, I’m fine. Most of the blood isn’t mine. ❜
She smiles at his easy patience, a trait that many do not share when it comes to Hawke. She provokes anger & a tendency to cause problems in most, & yet Anders seems quite happy to deal with Hawke & her irritating personality.
❛ Sorry. I’ll clean it up, promise. ❜

❛ I’ve heard you don’t look too kindly upon apostates. ❜
anonymously message me with a plot & i'll respond with whether i would be interested or not, then make a starter for it.
note: this is simply to try and help people break the ice of rp'ing or for those who want to rp something off someone’s wishlist, but are just a little too shy. this can remain completely anonymous! so if you receive a plot you like you’re essentially making an open starter based on that plot unless the other person comes forward :)

‘Why? You don’t like Cullen?’
He was UPTIGHT though he was also a COMMANDER. Guess they had to be uptight, forces & all. Though the thought was amusing, might as well slip a few to Josephine as well.
‘Give some to Josie too, oh! Fancy Vivvy Pants.’
❛ He was Knight Commander in Kirkwall. ❜
Not really a thorough explanation, but she figured that Sera would be able to join the dots herself. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Cullen, but she did have a little bit of resentment still to work out.
❛ Oooh, definitely Vivienne. But I’m blaming you if she catches us. ❜

There was a continuous theme of being uptight, or perhaps the better word would be wary for those newly settled into the Inquisition. It was a very young ordeal, and the process of learning how to trust and be open with others wasn’t something that came naturally. The Inquisition was finding it’s footing, and everyone within it was doing the same. The Champion—Meara, her name was Meara–smiling and speaking in such a lax manner was not only welcome, it was a breath of fresh air. Dhruastun was an individual who was affected by the company he kept, and a smile often earned a smile in turn, and this was one such case. That and she spared that gem of information so easily and with such casual grace. Dhruastun was almost envious. "If only everyone thought like that.“ Perhaps the world would be vastly different if that were the case. Rather than linger on that, though, his attention was refocused on the question posed his way. The elf’s head tilted as he considered it before offering a half shrug. "It seemed a more just thing, to work for a group to wants to heal the world, rather than keeping myself amused in the ‘Mire.” In the barest of terms that was really the crux of it, that and Dhruastun wanted to help. “This world has done plenty of horror, but I think it’s worthwhile to try and better it.—And it’s far better company than walking corpses.”
Hawke was glad that the other seemed at ease in her presence, as so often her reputation changed how she was perceived. She allowed an indulgent grin to tug at her mouth as he spoke, though she was listening to him with utmost sincerity. Truth is something she was used to being hidden, & so the honesty with which the elf spoke was strangely compelling.
❛ I can understand that. ❜
People never believed her when Hawke spoke of how she had simply fallen into the role of a guardian to Kirkwall, her beginnings not so different from the decision that was being explained to her.

“They are over, but that doesn’t mean anything’s changed, Hawke. We cannot expect a peaceful resolution until there is change to ensure this doesn’t happen again!”
The echo of energy wavers in his voice as he snaps, it causes him to look down at his hands in confusion. Familiar dull blue lights dance across them in broken up lines briefly, disappearing as quickly as they seemed to form. Justice… was not taking this well. Or he was too aware of Anders not taking any of this well.
It was hard to tell at the moment.
“He agrees… What they hope to do isn’t a solution…”
Religious types were funny like that. Anders half expected Hawke to be well aware of that after what had happened in Kirkwall, or at the very least hold some suspicion… whichever. The thought brought a bitter smile all the same to his features as he looked up at her to speak. “’Compromise’. That’s all they want out of this. All the Divine will do is look for a middle ground to stop the death, and you know this.”
Hawke manages not to flinch as Justice’s voice threads through Anders. The only outward sign of her distress is the tightening of her jaw. She had hoped that the conclave & the destruction of the circles would have pleased him.
❛ I see. ❜
She sits in silence for a moment. A lifetime ago, she would have rested a hand upon his knee, but Hawke is certain that such a gesture would not be appreciated any longer.
❛ They cannot ignore the suffering of mages any longer, Anders. & despite what I said, such a thing would not have been so if you had not done what you did. ❜

‘Well,’ She starts, now she is trying to figure out what she could do. Guess Sera never really made cookies before; it was just a bunch of sugar, flour & other things, right? Maybe the b a d taste would be apart of the prank!
‘I know shit about cookin’, I just thought you throw in random things & viola or some shit. So, throw in a bunch of stuff & the hot stuff & magic, right?’
Hawke grins ---- she is hardly the person to ask about cooking, but she is more than willing to try. At least between the two of them they may resemble cookies enough for the prank to work.
❛ Uh, I’ll give it a go. No promises. ❜
She was too wrapped up in her fears of templars to ever learn to cook in her youth.
❛ We have to give some to Cullen. ❜

In another life, perhaps he would have been happy to hear those words. But now, Anders finds himself only staring, a dull questioning gaze that hopefully speaks more than he could trust himself to say. After everything he had done, all the blood that had been spilled, the friendship he didn’t deserve yet twisted to sate his own needs and purpose—well, he just knew even he wouldn’t want to come looking for himself anyways.
A sudden jolt in the back of his mind makes him jump a bit, a mumbled apology passing before he finally makes himself pull over a nearby stool for himself.
“… Conclave…” The word passes from him with the faint hint of confusion lingering behind it. What was Hawke hoping to achieve by telling him this? “You know very well they’ll have me hung on sight.” Something Anders was sure even she couldn’t forget.
He speaks the truth ---- in fact, she’s pretty sure that would be the case for both of them. & yet, she isn’t here to leave blame. Hawke is not known for her tact, nor for being anything other than a stubborn apostate.
❛ I know. But ---- what you did worked. ❜
The violence is unpleasant, but truly, there is no other way for this to end. Anders had always known that. Maybe she had retained some kind of naivety when it had come to this. So much of her life had been defined by violence, & she had hoped to find something that could be solved without it.
❛ The circles are over. ❜
❛ ofpiety
The quipped comment that was full of mirth did well to soothe the bundle of nerves that chaotically at the base of the apostate’s skull. Meeting others was still something that was a hit or miss, but instantly the amusement seemed to work it’s trick and bring a smile onto the elf’s features. Even if he has to look down to see her, whatever surprise at her height was smoothed evenly away with that warm welcome. Were all heroes so friendly? Dhruastun hadn’t met enough to make his mind up about that, but this was a good of start as any. "I’ve heard it’s good though–the book.“ It was better than admitting it outright that he hadn’t actually read said book, a subtle hint would be enough to ease off some of his nerves. Readily he took the offered hand, shaking it and keeping his sunken eyes fixed on that welcoming visage. "A pleasure, Meara, I’m Dhruastun.” A pause, discomfort wrangled in the space behind his eyes for a breathe before he continued. “Dhruastun Shivanal. Eager apostate aiding the Inquisition.” Despite the word eager, that drawling manner in which he spoke loaded a bit of sarcasm on those syllables specifically.
Hawke watches as the previously tense posture of the other mage relaxes, & finds herself pleased that she is still in possession of enough charm to do so. Having more mages (apostates, all of them now) around is an oddity, but one that Hawke thinks she would like to be used to in time. She drags a hand through hair already in a state of disarray, a grin tugging at her mouth.
❛ Glad not to be the only apostate around. ❜
It’s quite a personal truth that she admits, but one she does not have to fear any longer. So, the words follow a bright smile, no hint of turmoil spoiling her gaze.
❛ How did you end up in this mess? ❜

In hindsight, it had probably not been the best thing to say right off the bat. Trying to sort out his own emotions from whatever was melding from Justice about this was more of a headache than he’d care to admit at the moment.
And Maker knows there was a lot Anders would have liked to admit at this very moment.
“Right… I’m thinking you didn’t come all this way just to tell me something I already know.” Just because he felt worse than he probably looked didn’t mean he wasn’t already trying to figure out why. No one would go out of their way to look for Anders—hell, least of all Hawke of all people…
It was what he told himself day after day anyways.
“Well… you might as well sit.” Anders motioned with a hand towards one of the open stools. “I’d offer a drink but you really don’t want to drink anything that comes out of this place.”
Hawke sits, keen eyes fixed upon him as she does so. The void that was once filled with friendship aches in his presence, but she has never been able to voice such sentiments aloud. She is known for her harshness, her lack of elegance in anything other than battle. Once, such a reputation would have hurt.
❛ I came looking for you. ❜
That simple confession is unusual in itself, but she knows that the truth is all that would be accepted by both Anders, & Justice. She cannot forget about either of them ---- not for lack of trying.
❛ There’s going to be a conclave, between the Divine & the mages. ❜
