NHS Updates (IMPORTANT)
Seniors: We will begin collecting stole money on May 6th, Monday, in P-7, Frau Rovell's room. Do not turn in money for a stole if you have been notified that you did not make the point deadline. Stoles are for three-year members only. Deadline for turning in stole money is on Wednesday, May 15th. Turn in $20 at Frau Rovell's room. If you are renting a stole, you will get $10 back when you return your stole on graduation night. All senior members will receive a NHS cord. You do not need to pay for the cord.Ā
Junior and sophomore point deadline is Sunday, May 19th, the day of Walk for Arthritis. This means all donations must be turned in by Friday, May 17th.Ā
Picture donations are a great way to earn points! Turn in 5 decent photos of NHS members volunteering at events to receive 1 easy point. Two max points per semester. Campus Beautification/Waterworks pictures do not count for picture donations. Send your donations in to the historians.Ā
Banquet fees are due next week, Friday, May 10th. If you have received an officer position or you are applying for a cabinet position, you must be present to receive your position. If you are a current officer/cabinet member, you must also attend. Seniors and members are also welcome to attend! This year, the banquet will take place at the Diamond Bar Golf Course.Ā
ALSO: Please sign off your names when putting items into the donation boxes. It has been difficult to keep track of donations because people arenāt writing their names down on the list.

New member apps are available in Frau Rovell's room. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and you must maintain that GPA as a member in NHS. This requirement will be verified every fall semester. To qualify for application, you must also have completed or be in the process of completing 3 honors/AP/IB classes. Ā

NHS Banquet
Hi guys!Ā This year, our NHS banquet will be held at theĀ Diamond Bar Golf CourseĀ onĀ Monday, May 27th. The event is fromĀ 5:30Ā to 8 PM. The dress-code isĀ semi-formal. The address isĀ 22751 Golden Springs Dr., Diamond Bar, CA 91765. The banquet will costĀ $20. We will start collecting money next week, starting fromĀ Monday, AprilĀ 29th,Ā inĀ Ms. White's Room, B-1. The last day will beĀ Friday, May 10th.Ā PleaseĀ bring your money sealed in an envelope with your name on it. Then, place the money into the big yellow envelope next to the door and write your name on the sheet attached on the envelope.Ā
If you are selected to be one of the officers or cabinet members, you must be present to receive your position. If you are not present, your position will be given to another candidate.Ā The banquet is open to all NHS members, regardless of whether you applied for cabinet/officer positions. Leukemia Benefit Concert
On March 30th, NHS attended the annual Leukemia Benefit Concert held in the Four Seasons Plaza. Members helped out backstage and before concert by setting up chairs and manning booth, while some members actually took part in the concert.

2. CASA - the annual CASA tournament is taking place and if you're interested in participated on behalf of NHS please email the presidents ASAP. The dates are currently: March 14th, 21st, 22nd, and 28th.Ā
3. NHS Idol - if you have a special skill or talent and would like to perform for an audience, sign up for NHS idol. Participants of NHS Idol will receive points depending on either a performer or an audience.Ā
4. Feed The Children - feed the children is an event that occur during the week of spring break.Ā
Bubble Fest - the science discovery center is having a bubble fest and they are looking for volunteers for their event. Bubble fest will beheld during the week of spring break as well.Ā
Family Science Night - Walnut City's annual Family Science Night will be held on March 29th.Ā

Rose Parade
From December 26-28th and on the 30th, NHS attended the annual Rose Parade decorating event. Members cut flowers, filled vials, and glued seeds to the floats that showed up on New Year's Day.

On December 16, volunteers came dressed in a white shirt, slacks, and a red tie/bow tie ready to create a memorable play day for kids at Walnut City Hall. There were performers, game booths, an ice rink, and snow slides!

Jingle Bell Run
On Sunday,Ā December 2nd, NHS members helped support the Jingle Bell Run in Laguna Niguel, which was hosted by the Arthritis Foundation. Members provided aid at the stations along the trail and inĀ activitiesĀ around the main area.Ā

For All Mankind Benefit Concert
On October 28th, 2012 NHS attended the FAM Benefit Concert. Members helped sell food and supported The Water Project, a charity movement seeking to provide safe drinking water for people throughout the world.Ā

NHS Induction Ceremony
The annual NHS Induction Ceremony was held this past Wednesday, October 17th at the Performing Arts Center. As a longtime tradition of the National Honor Society, the ceremony marks the official induction of members, cabinet, and officers into the club.
During the ceremony, the presidents presented a speech defining the four key tenets of the NHS creed. New board members were required to take an oath, while incoming inductees signed their name in the official NHS Induction Book. All members recited the traditional pledge and took part in the Lighting of Candles ceremony.Ā
