We must risk delight. We can do without pleasure, but not delight. Not enjoyment. We must have the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless furnace of this world.

It took me a long time to learn that mistakes aren't good or bad. They're just mistakes, and you clean them up, and go on.

We need to give up something. We can’t have it all. We can’t try to layer wisdom on top of confusion. The spiritual path is about what we give up, not what we get.

Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.

The silence of the mind is like the space in the room; it is always there, but it is subtle. It doesn't stand out, it doesn't grab your attention. It has no extreme quality which would stimulate and grasp your attention, so you have to pay attention, you have to be attentive.

Things go, accept that, be with what is.
