For the record while ATLA is an excellent show and Zukos redemption arc was perfectly paced, I would kill to have had Zuko join the Gaang at the end of book two, because the first half of book three would have been the funniest thing on the planet. Like. Just picture it. A bunch of unsupervised teenagers travelling undercover through enemy territory, trying to blend in⦠and the only people who have even been there before are 1. A guy who hasnt been there in a century, and 2. The former crown prince who has literally never spoken to a fire nation citizen who wasnt nobility, military, or one of his servants.
Like. Neither of them have any idea what theyāre doing, or how normal fire nation citizens act, but theyāre pretty sure the other one is wrong. Rest of the gaang knows even less. No adults. Zuko and Aang getting into a shouting debate over the finer points of fire nation culture is a nightly event. They are both so wrong, and so, so awkward
Zuko, for the fifth and probably not last time: FOR THE LAST TIME, NOBODY USES THE PHRASEĀ āFLAMEO HOTMANā!
Aang, aware of that fact but in too deep to back out now: OH YEAH? THEN WHAT DO THEY SAY!?
Zuko, clueless and bluffing: ā¦Something about glory to the Fire Lord?
Toph, well aware that both are lying through their teeth and have no idea what theyāre talking about, and fucking loving every second of this train wreck: Clearly the only solution is for both of you to go into town tomorrow and test your theories out.
And the side taking, oh my god the side taking from the other three. Katara sides with Aang every single time. Does she honestly believe that the people of the Fire Nation greet each other withĀ āFlame on, my em-brotherā? Hell no. Would she rather die than say that Zukoās correct? Yes.
Sokka usually sides with Zuko, unless he comes up with something astoundingly stupid. Zukoās thoughts, while usually wrong, sound a lot more plausible then Aangs, and fuck it heās willing to take a gamble.
Toph is the closest thing to a neutral party they have, in that she knows damn well theyāre all full of shit, and has chosen to instead egg them on to make it worse. Sheās an agent of chaos, and this is free nightly entertainment. Sheās having the time of her life right now.
The debate takes a brief pause once they stop going undercover and get to the business of actually saving the world, but holy shit. once things have settled down? itās back on with a vengeance. Except now Aang and Zuko arenāt the two most wanted people in the Fire Nation, theyāre the two most influential people in the world. They are trendsetters. They can make slang become a thing.
When Zuko first hears the phraseĀ āflameo, hotmanā being thrown around casually, it takes a lot of deep breathing exercises to not immediately return to his previous occupation of hunting the Avatar.
Iroh: Iām so proud of the way youāve been ruling, nephew. Flameo, hotman!
Zuko, in tears: How could you say that

Iām screaming??? So my cat knows I get upset when he steps on my paintings (not yelling or anything I think he just sees me spend hours trying to cover up what his paws do) in my āstudioā which is a crammed small storage closet with painting all over the floor drying , so like Iām in there rn and I saw him try to get to point A to point b but it was impossible for him to jump over so like he realized the matte parts were dry and like he was stepping on the corners of the painting and every step heād look at his paw to see if he fucked up and honestly it was the most thoughtful thing ever I donāt ever wanna hear anyone ever say that cats donāt care
Read on for a brief look at the complex concept of muxe, Mexico's so-called third gender, which is at times rejoiced and reviled in equal measure.
āIn a small town in rural, indigenous Mexico, there exists a thirdĀ genderĀ known as muxe (sometimes spelled muxhe) among the Zapotec peoples. Considered neither male nor female, rather somewhere in-between likeĀ the hijras of India, muxes are (broadly speaking) biologically male but dress and act in ways typically associated with females. Hereās a brief history of Mexicoās third gender.Ā
Believed to have originated from the Spanish term for āwomanā (mujer), muxes are predominantly found in communities around the Isthmus of Oaxaca, where tolerance towards people identifying with this third gender is generally higher than in many other parts of Mexico. Sadly, however, contrary to popular belief, discrimination is still alive and kicking. In other regions, muxes are sometimes known by other names, like bizaāah.ā

power move: saying āthatās treasonā every time someone does something that mildly inconveniences you
Donald Trump ghostwrote this
awfully bold of you to assume trump could spell āinconveniencesā

steve: *is pretty* everyone: (āæ ā„āæā„)
one time at a wax museum i thought one of the tour guides was a wax person cuz they were just standing there not moving so i go up to them like āwho the fuck is this supposed to beā then they just looked at me and laughed
Emily Vancamp as Sharon Carter in āCaptain America: The Winter Soldierā
Hereās an example of what we call a āsoft noā. Sharon turns down Steveās offer in a way thatās meant not to insult him but never actually uses the word ānoā.
Steve clearly gets the message, though, and importantly offers to leave her alone. Sharonās comment afterwards gives him an opportunity to try again later, but he doesnāt press and respects her rejection of his company even though itās probably hurt his feelings a bit.
Just in case you ever wonder āWhat would Captain America do?ā; there you go.
never do something steve rogers wouldnāt do.
Unless itās jumping out of a plane without a parachute, you probably shouldnāt do that
I just have to add - Iāve seen interviews with Marvel people where they say that this scene demonstrates that Capās awkward with women and doesnāt know how to ask women out on a date.Ā And it drives me crazy, because - as the OP says - Steve behaved perfectly here.Ā It was a very charming, nonthreatening offer, and he accepted her rejection with good grace.Ā You canāt help but feel that to Hollywood, the fact that she said no means he asked badly - which is exactly how Iād expect Hollywood to think, namely, the idea that men should keep pressing and pushing women until they say yes
Read this, then read it again.
Big mood.
