Hello anon.

Firstly, I really don't know why you'd come to someone's inbox to flame their own character other than for the sole purpose of getting a rise from them, so jot that down.

Secondly, I don't really know how much of Decadence you've read since you didn't actually say, but I'm going to take a guess since you said you basically find Phoenix unbearable that it's not a lot. Initially, Phoenix is a 15-year-old girl and teenagers can be really annoying.

Thirdly, not going to deny Phoenix is a lot of the above. Popular? Yep. Beautiful? Yep. Good at Quidditch? Yep. All the boys love her? I wouldn't go that far but she does get a bit of attention from them. As the writer, and from what I've seen from readers' responses, Phoenix is more than that. She has her insecurities, her flaws. In fact, part of her concern is that she will only be seen as beautiful and not anything else, especially when her family insists she marry into another pure-blood family. But again, guess you probably didn't get that far.

Lemme just say, I love me a Mary-Sue. It makes the 15yo girl in my happy. Who didn’t wish that they were smart and pretty and popular and good at sports and also everyone was in love with them as a teenager? Fanfic is fantasy and wish-fulfilment to an extent. Quit being a Debbie Downer and shitting on people’s parades because you’re a sad fuck too stuck in reality.

Also, newsflash, 15yo girls are annoying as fuck. So are 15yo boys. Teenagers are a hot-mess of superiority/inferiority complexes and also as self-absorbed as Narcissus discovering his reflection.
