“Oh, really?” Ryoko said offhandedly, still toggling with the settings of her phone. “Hair like gold, eh… I’ve met my fair share of blondes in the past here, so I honestly could have bumped into one of them before. Maybe I’ve even said hello.”
It’s doubtful, but you never could say for sure in a city that was this large. Maybe one of Agnes’ friends was actually living around here and she had no idea. Now that would be ironic.
She also had to wonder why the sight of her knife appeared to unnerve Agnes. Oh, yes, she had noticed. It was all in the body-language, really. It didn’t offend Ryoko; it merely confused her.
Humans really didn’t seem to like weapons, whether they were going to be used on them or not.
“I can’t say for sure. During my frequent walks out in the city, I have occasionally see an orb of light floating about in Sector 2,” she recalled, eyes still glued to the screen. “Very easy to see among the smog. I haven’t approached her directly nor have I heard anything about fairies or magic in the local news.”
Suddenly, her phone shut with a clack, and she turned to face Agnes with a cheery little curve of a smile.
“I’m sorry if I haven’t been much help to you in these topics, Agnes. Maybe I can try and look for your friends directly now that you’ve told me about them? It’s the least I can do to make amends for a new friend.”
An orb of light, she says. Airy definitely was a glowing little orb from afar-- then again, she was not the only magical creature in the city. It might be another kind of fairy, but Agnes was hopeful. Did she reside in Sector 002 now? Vague memories of the times when they housed together played back in her mind, and she wondered if leaving so suddenly caused Airy to think twice about their friendship.
Ah, the thought of made her feel a pang in her chest.
Her eyes focused on the other once she heard the shutting of the gadget. The bluenette spoke and the last sentence made her blink twice.
Agnes only made a handful of friends in her lifetime. It was rather unusual for anybody to call her that right off the bat.
“Y-you will help me, then? -- I thank you greatly.” she lets down her guard for now. “If this will not take much of your time, then...”
