You are y/n. A boring girl, with a boring life. You lived on Maple Street, a boring street in an even more boring town. Everyone works, comes home, has dinner, spends time alone, then bed, then repeat. You recently turned 15, and got into fixated on trying older games, collecting them like Pokémon. Speaking of that's the most recent game you bought, Pokémon: Lavender Town. You heard it was cursed or something, however with school, homework, and chores, you haven't had much time to play. So it sits your gaming shelf, collecting dust with your other games. You plan on getting your hands on a Legend Of Zelda game next, when one was available that is.
Friday, it was finally Friday. You felt all giddy and excited despite waking up at 6:00 am. You felt happy while showering, dressing, eating, brushing your teeth, and even getting on the bus. This week was stressful, its the start of the year so beginning of the year so the start of the year testing had been going all week. You had so many classes, tests, and you had a hard time doing school, not because you weren't smart but because it you struggled to pay attention unless it interested which was why writing class was your favorite. It gave creative freedom, gave you time breathe and express emotion. You sat on the bus, it was fall now so you wore an oversized spider themed sweater with some jeans. Simple but fitting, especially because to love fall and all things Halloween. You pulled out your MP3 player, sticking earbuds in, immediately your favorite song began playing, you relaxed and started writing in your notebook, expressing your thoughts on everything from the week prior.
You sat alone, just the way you liked it. People were too much sometimes, especially first thing in the morning. You wanted absolutely nothing to ruin this somewhat perfect Friday. You planned on staying holed up all weekend to escape your boring reality. You began imagining your perfect weekend when the bus bullies choose you to be their victims. Eddie, Josh, and Tom. You wanted to throw something, to tell them to fuck off but the words died in throat. "Well well well if ain't the class loner" Eddie sneered. You felt like crying, not tears of sadness, but rage and anger. Everything was going so well, so perfectly. "Buzz off boys, I'm not in the mood." You said scooted closer to the window, turning the volume on your song up. Eddie's face twisted in annoyance at your nonchalant reaction. Eddie grabbed you by the hair, "Listen here bitch" he hissed, spit flying through his clenched teeth. Josh and Tom stood behind as back up, looking as intimidating ever. "Your gonna answer me when I say something or trust me I can make your life a livin-" the wind knocked out of him, his words cut short. Your knee still buried in the middle of his stomach, while prying him off your h/c hair. Josh and Tom looked momentarily stunned and soon everyone on the bus was staring.
You let off Eddie, he howled in pain, clutching his stomach. As quick as he was down, he was up again, anger etched in every line in face, he grabbed you by the waist and you dug your nails into his forearms. The fight escalated and there was soon blood, other people on the bus were screaming, some shouting 'fight, fight, fight.' You mostly tuned it out, your heart pounding your ears. You threw punches, he tugged at your hair. A clash of sweat, blood, and hissing before the bus arrived at school and finally the bus driver gave a shit, pulling you two apart with a deep scowl. The whole day you and Eddie were the talk of the school, he was not happy at almost being beaten, and definitely didn't expect you to fight back like that. You were not used to the attention, it made you uncomfortable, when you were sick of a boring life, you didn't mean this should happen.
As fate would have it, Eddie didn't leave you alone all day either, throwing insults, hitting you randomly or just making faces at you. You never gave him the satisfaction of getting to you, but it made your blood boil. After a particular intense class, you overheard a few of the school geeks mentioning how a Zelda game arrived at gamestop this morning, you perked up, and heard it was 'Major's Mask'. You knew every Friday they add new games, because of your previous excitement this morning you only skimmed the new games list on the website while eating breakfast. Filled with anticipation, you planned to go right after school, maybe, maybe this would be the thing that turns everything around. You hurried to your next class, determined and ready to get your bruised hands on that game. The day seemed to drag on forever, until you finally the bell rang, and you quite literally ran as the first echo played. Another day in your boring life, at least you have a new game to look forward to.
