❝ Well, I would hope not. ❞ She outright laughs when he kisses her hand, shaking her head. ❝ Now  that’s old school. ❞ Samantha still holds onto his hand, stepping closer to Emmett. ❝ I’m nearly frozen solid from the rain. I think I could ( really ) go for a  n i c e  cup of coffee right now. ❞ And if that’s not an invitation for him to invite her up to his apartment, she’ll need to be more obvious. 

❜ Yeah, well, I’m not entirely ( old school. ) ❛ He joked with a wink before straightening back to his full height. ❜ It just so happens that I have a brand new coffee maker back home that I’ve been dying to try out. ❛ Granted, new to him translated to Christmas of last year, but a little white lie never hurt anyone. With a twinkle in his eye his smirk returned once more. ❜ And I’m sure we could find something else to warm us up, too. ❛

❝ Yeah? The view underneath is even better.  ❞ Samantha teases confidently, because she’s anything but shy, and all too certain of her assets. ❝ E m m e t t, ❞ she repeats back, deciding she likes the way it rolls off her tongue. ❝ ( Hmm, ) I suppose you can know. It’s Samantha. ❞

Emmett’s eyebrows shot up and his smile widened ever so slightly. ❜ Now that’s something I wouldn’t doubt for a second. ❛ With tender fingers he grasped her hand before leaning down and placing a gentle kiss to the back of it, never breaking eye contact with the beautiful brunette. ❜ An absolute pleasure to meet you, Samantha. ❛

❝ I don’t know, I think you gave me a ( pretty good ) run for my money. ❞ She grins, letting her eyes roam. ❝ But I have to say, I do enjoy the new   v i e w. ❞

A single eyebrow raised and he gave the brunette a lopsided smile. ❜ That so? Gotta say, the view from here isn’t that bad, either. ❛ His gaze roved over her form briefly before returning to meet her eyes, raising his brows and sporting an amused smile. ❜ Drenched clothing, and all. ❛ Emmett shifted his weight and crossed his arms over his chest, head cocking to the side. ❜ I’m Emmett—it’d be nice to know the name of the girl who’s stealing my jacket. ❛ There was no shortage of amusement in his voice and mirth twinkled in his eyes.

Samantha shrugs off the ruined wool and reaches for his jacket, eagerly slinging it around her shoulders. It’s no fashion statement, for sure, but it’s warm and comfortable — if perhaps a bit too big for her. ❝ I hope you realize the limited likelihood there is of me giving this b a c k, ❞ She says, ( teasingly, ) as her fingers play with the collar. 

❜ I’d say I’m disappointed, but frankly you look better in it than I do. ❛ He gave her a cheeky grin, unable to deny that she did look good in the garment.

❝ I can hope, at least. This isn’t the first outfit the weather has  r u i n e d. ❞ Samantha says, crossing her arms. God, she’s freezing. Damn her cold-intolerant body, today of all days. ( Why does she have to meet someone cute when she’s looking her worst ? )

Emmett couldn’t help the smile that tugged at the corners of his lips as he listened to her. He didn’t miss the movement of her arms and reacted immediately, shrugging out of his jacket and presenting it to her with a smile.

                        ❜ Here, take my jacket. It’s waterproof                               and I can ( guarantee ) it’ll be a lot warmer                                                   than your sweater. ❛

❝ I’m sorry were you talking to me? Because I’m not sharing. ❞ Levi turned around and twirled his umbrella between his fingers. ❝ Harlow always puts one in my book bag before I leave.❞ He smiled weakly while playing with the strap of his shoulder bag. ❝ The Pie Hole is literally three steps away — ya’ could chill in there until the rain stops. Or, you could just steal my umbrella when I’m not looking.❞
