             Of course he was late.

             The prince considered the possibility of leaving him behind with increasing ferocity the more the sun inched up over the horizon. He had spent the rest of the evening before preparing: gathering supplies, checking the ship for any abnormalities from its last sojourn through the stars, and convincing Bulma ( who yelled and passed it off to her father ) to install the phone Kakarot insisted they needed. Then, he spent the rest of the night training until about an hour ago, slumber far from his mind and unneeded. After a shower and one last check of the ship, he arrived in Capsule Corporation’s lobby directly at sunrise. He waited. And waited. Ki sense stretching as far as he could manage to find the oaf’s energy. He tapped his foot, the rhythm quickening with each passing moment, and ground his teeth, a slew of silent curses races through his brain. Finally, finally, the bastard showed up on the stupid cloud of his.

              “ I told you not to be late! ” Vegeta had a right mind to kick the pile of treats in his arms out of them in his frustration, but opted to snatch one the top of the stack instead. “ You’re lucky I didn’t leave your sorry ass behind. ”

               He tore the package of the snack open with his teeth and shoved it in his mouth, the cloyingly sweet flavors nearing the edge of his tolerance for such foods. Too stubborn to spit it out, he chewed and swallowed it as he turned on his heel and stomped toward the back of the complex where the ship waited. “ Let’s go. You’ve wasted enough of my time already. ”

goku stood with a blank expression ,  blinking through what was being said yet not fully comprehending .  but his eyes caught and watched closely as vegeta reached out .  tracking his movements to ultimately burst out into a teeth baring smile when the other ate one of his treats .  the only conclusion from this greeting being that he assumed to have been able to guess what vegeta liked and that was enough to put him in an even greater mood .

“ -- woah ,  ‘geets ! ”  he exclaimed in bewilderment at the sudden readiness by the other .  a stray chocolate bar falling to the floor from his sudden jerk movement ,  bouncing to catch up to the others quick steps .

 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚗  𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝   𝚠𝚊𝚜  𝚑𝚎  𝚜𝚞𝚙𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚎𝚍  𝚝𝚘  𝚋𝚎  𝚞𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚐  ? perhaps  his  father  had  been  heaven-bound  a  little  too  long  &  fried  his  brain  up  there.   “  dad,  i’m  not  following  you  here.  ”   head  tilting,  gohan  mentally  counted  through  all  of  the  possible  ways  he  could  do  this  without his  eyes.  his  mother  prepared  him  to  find  solutions  to  every  equation  that  was  thrown  his  way  but..  this..  this  had  him  beat. “  i  kind  of  need  my  eyes…  doing  things  with  my  eyes  closed  doesn’t  really  feel  like  the 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭  𝐰𝐚𝐲   to  go  about  this.  ”   always with  the  literal  interpretations. 

 the  head  tilt  was  replaced  with  gohan  reaching  to  nervously  scratch  at  the  hair  at  the  nape  of  his  neck.  old  habits  would  die  hard.   “  did  king  kai  teach  you  this?  do  i  need  to  be  dead  to  do  it  properly?  cause..  well..  ”   another  nervous  chuckle,  he  was  afraid  his  father  had  returned  a  hippie.   “    i’m  not  really  ready  for  that  kind  of  commitment.  ”

words became hard when explaining things .  goku found himself stumbling more often than not ,  reinforced by the lost looks he would inevitably receive .  translating his thoughts created a furrowed brow across his own forehead yet still with a lighthearted glint in his eyes . 

“ i guess i kiiinda learnt it with master roshi ... ?  he didn’t exactly teach me it but ...  it’s super easy once you get the hang of it !  don’t worry ,  gohan . ”  ultimately deciding it was much simpler to show rather then explain given how his train of thought severely veered off track .  

             “ We?! What makes you think–GAH! ”

              The urge to throttle the buffoon soared, reason suggesting that physical rather than verbal admonishment for his egregious assumptions would go over far better. Despite his mild interest in the idea of once more dabbling in space travel again, in testing and honing his skills on the plethora of races dotting the universe, he didn’t appreciate Kakarot assuming he had any interest in doing so with an imbecile like him! Even Nappa and Raditz had their uses, but Kakarot’s lack of knowledge and experience would only prove to be an annoyance on top of his usual idiosyncrasies would only drive the prince to madness.

               Vegeta shoved back against the congenial shoulder nudges. Hard. “ Fine! Whatever! But only because I refuse to let you find some convoluted shit out there that will put you ahead of me again! ”

               He folded his arms, nostrils flared in irritation. “ Meet me at Capsule Corp tomorrow morning at sunrise. I’ll have the damn ship ready with your stupid phone. Don’t you dare think about being late, Kakarot! ”

a brief stumble backwards ,  blinking up to take note the look of brazen disregard written across vegeta’s expression and action .  and yet ,  goku remained unfazed by such a display and bounced back into a poised stance .  arm raised in a broad wave with his usual eager flare .  “ that’s the spirit ,  geets ! ”  turning the wave into the familiar fingers to his forehead as his giggles could be heard until his sudden disappearance . 

the sun rose ,  and despite the instructions given ,  this particular saiyan had found himself losing track of time even with the sun reminder .  the reason for his tardiness painfully obvious upon arriving to capsule corp crossed legged ,  riding on nimbus ,  topped with arms full of copious amounts of food .  and with a very distinct possibility he had not gotten much sleep because of this .
