Gotta get my passion back.
I decided that with all my time in recovery (I had my appendix out) that I should reconnect with my roots: Anime So I am going to select a list of shows to watch; ones I have either not seen, not finished, or saw so long ago I want to re watch them, and then I will select favorite character (or characters) from each show and draw them. This is a way to leisurely motivate myself, I wont feel pressured to make this art either, especially if I watch a show and no one jumps out at me.

This one was a doozy, and looking at the original art for this card didn’t help me figure out what to do for the alter either. The background is so non-descript and obscure I could only roll up my sleeves and try and make sense of what I saw on the card itself… I just sort of went with it.

I'm not out of steam, just out of love.
I've been feeling frustrated with my artwork lately, I don't really like what I make anymore. I never feel like finishing things. Before I had a problem with not finishing stuff because I just got distracted and bounced between ideas too much. But now... now I just don't want to keep working on things. I look at what I'm making and don't want to even try to keep going because I won't like the end product. I can't seem to fall in love with my work anymore.

When I'm away from my sweetheart, I sleep with his shirt nestled around my face for the smell. But by the time I wake up it's usually tangled around me like I tried to drunkenly wrap a turban. It's a wonder I haven't suffocated.

In person, this is only a few centimeters bigger than a credit card. Because I LOVE small details and tiny paintings! Started and completed in 5 hours (I had to stop to pee and stretch every now and then), but I had this primed pieced of paper just sitting in my booklet for the past year just waiting for me to paint on it. Even had the edges taped off, but I could not for the life of me manage to get anything down until today. I guess it was finally the right time.

Hey! Here's a little peek at something I'm working on. Way back when I started this blog I posted a few thumbnails from a class project called Dream Tiger. Well I went back and basically re-juiced the entire project for myself so I can keep my new found motivation going. More to come!

Look! I used my art school powers for good. :) I made trompe l'oeil cameos fro my friends for Christmas. The first one is a cat skull and the second is a rat skull. I broke in my new 0.3 lead pencil for this... it was really fun to work so small and so detailed.
