Vortex Of Insanity

This is the story of Jean-Paul Pilon, a dentist in Berthierville in the 1970s and 1980s. That town is located in Québec, Canada.

On August 24, 1985, he was 49 years old, and he lived with his mother ― a widow ― as well as his aunt.

He was a homosexual, which is a very important part of the story.

He was a well-respected man who helped young people who had addictions. He was firmly against drugs.

Mr. Pilon had a gigantic flaw: he met young men ― strangers ― in bars, and he brought them home or to his Ile-Dupas camp.

That night, he did just that, bringing to his camp a young man named Marcel Allard, whom he had met in Montréal, that same night. Marcel was completely stoned, but he was handsome ― to the liking of Dr. Pilon.

They had sex all night long until, according to Mr. Allard, the doctor got angry. My researches have never told me the reason. He allegedly hit Marcel twice in the face. It is at that moment that he lost it. Marcel hit Jean-Paul in the face, breaking his nose. He then used two knives to stab him 20 times.

A small fire had been started by a cigarette, and Marcel ran to the neighbours’ house, where Marie-Paule Rondeau, now deceased, called the firemen. When they extinguished the fire, they found Dr. Pilon, naked, dead on a couch. Marcel did not run away. He gave his version.

They sent him back to Montréal for his trial. I am not aware of how long he stayed in prison, but it was nearly his tenth visit in three years. He had been arrested for fraud, violence, hitting a police officer, and demanding sex publicly. Since then, we have had no news.

Jean-Paul’s mother passed away in 2002, at 94 years old.
