Sorry if it’s controversial, but I’m gonna say it: it really bothers me that some people who are so excited for the WPBL have never put a single ounce of energy into supporting pro softball, which has been around for DECADES. It’s like people only care once it’s baseball, which is wack and honestly misogynistic. The WPBL is really awesome, but so is the AUSL and the Japanese pro softball league, etc.

Softball isn’t a lesser sport—it’s a different sport that is at risk of being pushed aside. I see some of these people claim to be all-in on women’s baseball, but won’t watch a single softball game.

Respect the work those softball players did—in fact, the vast majority of the WPBL’s big stars played D1 NCAA softball, and some have also/do also play pro softball. Show up for both sports, not just the one that gets all the attention.
