I've been looking for something fulfilling and meaningful to do with my art for a while, now. I want to tell my stories, but finding a medium to get them out there has always been a struggle--especially recently! I'm not gonna lay out all the reason for you. You know 'em all. Every artist has been complaining about it for months and years. Instead I'll say that I have hope--a lot of hope--for popjoy.
Since I've joined, the team has been incredibly receptive to feedback and as transparent as they can be about every decision. And the best part? No AI.

Hello, if you haven't heard yet, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit Western Colombia this morning. The death toll so far is at least 111. I'm lucky that my family living there was safe and unaffected from what I've heard so far, but many are suffering right now from loss of family, friends, homes, work, transportation and pets.
I've gathered links to donate to verified relief in the area. My heart goes out to anyone suffering in Colombia right now.

And made the mistake of not announcing he was right next to Zuko, resulting in jumpscaring the Firelord and being on the receiving end of Zuko's fight or flight response. and here's why: With JK rowling being who she is, she essentially has a monopoly on "magic school" stories. people don't want to write them because they don't want to be "just another Rowling copy-cat" but I disagree. we need MORE magic school stories to stop her from having the monopoly on the stupid concept.
We need queer magic school stories, dangerous magic school stories, rom-com, slice of life, horror, post-apocolyptic, etc. because the more we have out there the less her stupid story which she is using to spread hate speech and hurt trans folk can have so much leverage in the average person's lexicon.
I unfortunately am no exception to this rule. I started getting into Harry Potter Fanon a few years ago and right as the community was diversifying and creating new concepts with her terrible worldbuilding, even more of the sewage she spews came out and caused a rift between a lot of people (queer and not) who liked the characters and playing barbies with them. The issue with this is that she essentially made it impossible to interact with her characters or story without it directly giving her attention (which is why I personally have been having issues working on my own fic about harry potter, because my moral opinions on the matter and what it was contributing to made me loose love in what art I was making).
So I have a bone to pick with Rowling as a nonbinary creator who found one of her characters interesting, because she wants to erase me and my trans brothers and sisters. So, lets erase her.
Lets all make our own magic school stories, and get them out into the world. Fantasy has the freedom of magic, and there's a lot of magic to create- so lets make it.

I kinda wish they'd bring back kids pet games and online spaces meant for them again (with restricted chat like they used to have for safety but I know kids can get around that now).
like it annoys me that neopets is kinda a mess, webkinz (as much as it is a cash grab now) isnt as fun anymore, whatever that 'owning a horse' game went (and or what it was called im spacing), club penguin being gone, disney fairies no longer existing, poptropica being so messy and full of so much nonsense no one can figure out whats going on anymore unless they spend 200+ hours on just following every story beat... the list goes on.
we used to have so many games like this but they've just all vanished because of "lack of money" and I kinda want them back. otherwise kids are stuck playing fricken roblox which on its own has sooooo many issues (money issues, P*do issues, unsafe spaces, racism, etc etc)

As preposterous and stupid as this fucking movie's premise sounded (for a light-hearted rom-com, and not The Handmaid's Tale) I didn't want to think about it too much until the movie actually came out, and then I could see if it was somehow more intelligent and subversive than the trailer let on, but guess what, it's even worse!
If this is what it takes to get a rom-com greenlit these days, maybe we should just let them die.
Sex workers are thrown under the bus, shown only as thieves who fleece men in the woods at night, while queer sexuality is relegated to a few scenes with Allie’s roommate (a woefully underused Quintessa Swindell) and a handful of pans past blurry same-sex extras making out in the background. “This night is for the straights,” Swindell’s character says to Allie, before saying that queer people have worked around straight laws for centuries.
This is supposed to be a nod to queer resilience, but largely comes off as straightwashing the history of anti-LGBTQ legislation in this country that led towards raids of queer clubs and incarceration of queer people in the not-too-distant past (let alone the current barrage of anti-Trans and LGBTQ legislation currently in the works and on the books). It’s also ignorant of the long and fraught fight for the normalization of age-of-consent laws, which, by the way, did not happen in all states in this very country until 2003. Yes, that’s not even thirty years ago.
By the end, our intrepid protagonists have not had sex with anyone, because this is a film about Romance with a Capital R (and I guess sex is not part of romance!) and for that very same reason they ultimately embrace the fascist state of things. They aren’t the only ones who refuse to fight back. No one in this cursed film is protesting this mandate beyond “repeal” signs in various windows and some creative graffiti (...)
(...) If we are supposed to believe that the film is making some subversive statement about the state of sex and bodily autonomy in this country, it cannot end with its leads embracing their chains. That’s just warmed-over conservatism running around in sheep’s clothing.

also, for the unaware: mclaughlin v. florida was a 1964 supreme court case that struck down a florida anti-miscegenation law that criminalized cohabitation (and thus, as implied, sex) between white people and people of color of opposite genders. anti-miscegenation laws made marriage and sexual relationships between white people and people of color, most often specifically black people, a FELONY in several states in the united states up until the 1950s and 1960s. though it was already struck down by the supreme court, the state of alabama didn't repeal their law until 2000! there were THREE ATTEMPTS at codifying anti-miscegenation into the us constitution!
like yes, the issue here is partially straight white people's ignorance on the united states's history of homophobic policy, but it's also really important to recognize that arguably the majority of the issue here is straight white people's ignorance of the united states's history of codifying eugenics and antiblack racism.
the premise could have been interesting as a serious dystopian story, especially taking that history into account, but it wasn't written that way at all. this movie should never have been a fucking romcom making light of the violence the united states (and many other countries) has enacted on any kinds of sexual relationships it deems undesirable.

Please sign and share this petition if you care about small artists and their businesses! This law is very raw and caused so many people already to shut down their stores. I was planning to open a shop in November too, and until any changes will be implemented, all of my work in the recent year was for nothing.

Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.

What has researchers uneasy is everything else the case reveals. Two things back that up:
There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

You can get and use windows 11 without logging in with a microsoft account, as of five days ago. I am a local user on my computer. Don't ask me how to do it, because my computer repair guy did it when he reinstalled windows, but there are tutorials out there. Refuse to connect to internet until you're set up and can use the computer freely.
Refusing to connect to the internet doesn't help. You have to open a Command Prompt (Shift+F10) and typing start ms-cxh:localonly (and pressing enter) during installation when you get to the sign in/create stupid ms account screen

Unless there's really really specific reasons to subject yourself to windows, please consider installing linux mint instead.
