Natsuya’s limbs felt like jelly as he sat up, light finally illuminating the bedroom and revealing the chaos Nao had brought upon parts of the furniture. He could feel his eye twitch at the broken chair when his mind helpfully supplied the memory of how he had worked extra hours during the last summer break for them to be able to buy the dining set. Before he could dwell on it, Nao’s voice tore him from the impending frustration.

     “It feels like I received a door to the head, to be honest,” He replied with a smile. The worry evident on Nao’s features softened the shock to something muffled that he could ignore without a problem. He was the one at fault, having shaken his lover from his sleep without so much as a warning, and he really ought to know better. Nao was not one to sleep through unexpected noise, and he was willing to fight anyone who may try and break into their apartment without a second thought. Reaching out, Natsuya slipped a hand against Nao’s cheek, revelling in the feeling of soft skin against his fingers.

     “I should have called.” The admission was an easy one to make in the face of Nao’s green stare. The pad of Natsuya’s thumb brushed against’s Nao’s lower lip when he pushed off the wall with his second hand and found that he could stand without pain. No damage to his legs then. The sharp throb in his forehead left no doubt about where Nao had struck him however, and Natsuya forced himself to keep his hand away from his face. Nao would be worried if he reached for his head now, and Natsuya had caused him enough concern for one night, especially considering that Nao’s morning was bound to begin early. Where Natsuya knew he could sleep in, thanks to the coach who insisted his students needed a break after their training camp, Nao would rise from the pillows at seven tops.

Natsuya’s yelp broke through the nightly silence, the crashing noise that followed was sure to wake every neighbor smart enough to be asleep at this ungodly hour.

He scrambled to get back to his feet, foot catching on something rough and heavy, toppling him once more. A string of curses flew from his mouth even as he flung both arms around in a desperate attempt to find something to break his fall. What did break his fall was the wall behind, and he slumped down, hands covering the back of his head he had hit on the rough stone, adding colorful words to the curses he had uttered moments before.

     “N-Nao!! What are you doing?! It’s just me!”

Was that a panicked hitch accompanying his words? No. Definitely not. He wasn’t afraid of his boyfriend, why would he? There was no reason to.

Yet... when he had returned to their shared apartment a day earlier than expected - although at a ridiculously late hour, admittedly - he had been assaulted with what must be the door to their bedroom that Natsuya himself had unhinged a week ago to prepare for the scheduled wall penetration this friday. Nao must have used it as a weapon, no matter how bulky, to attack the stranger - presumed burglar? - with it.

Natsuya wondered briefly if he should be impressed by his slender boyfriend’s display of strength before he could hear rustling that promised more movement from the other man. Fearing another attempt at crushing heads, Natsuya scooted off the wall and along the empty doorframe until he could make out Nao’s silhouette against the window.
