“ i think you if anyone has deserved it, ” ebba assured the princess. the woman must have been in a very good mood to strike up a conversation so casually. ebba had never approached antonia because she had never seemed the type of person who was easy to talk to. “ so is it official ? are you the one who will get the throne ? is the race finally over ? ”

“It’s your world now. Drunk, hungover, or otherwise.” Hafiz’s smirk concealed by the subtle curved brim of her coupe glass. “How does it feel?”

“’Drunk, hungover, or otherwise’...” Antonia repeated slowly, a thoughtful look on her face. “That is something I’ll try to remember for the rest of the evening.” It shouldn’t be too hard — Antonia felt like she was on top of the world. “Unbelievable. Doesn’t get much better than this. Everything is falling into place. I can’t believe I’ve won.” Almost, at least, who knew what kind of trouble her father would end up causing. There was always a possibility that he’d find a way to do something. It would not end until someone made him stop.

“you probably shouldn’t,” sure, natasja would be drinking were this to happen to her, but she wouldn’t be caught drunk, moments after her victory. she was a high-functioning alcoholic, though. most other people, she found, were messy drunks, “you’ve won. hold your head high, don’t give someone a reason to tear you down, already.”

     “If you weren’t drinking, I don’t think it’d be possible for us to be sisters,” Cecilia slightly joked. She saw this party as an invitation to be drinking by 4pm and have it be somewhat socially acceptable. “I’m curious though what do you drink? Looking at you, I can tell you hate white wine, but that’s as much as I can tell.”

“Well, in that case, we can’t let anyone be confused,” Antonia mused with a grin as she picked up a new glass. “Well, you’re partly correct. In general, I’m not much of a wine person. I try to avoid white because overly sweet Chardonnay or Moscato was all I drank around the time I turned eighteen. Those years ruined wine for me. The good thing about wine is that you get quite the percentage for a good price. Now I stick to gin. What about you? What do you drink?”

he had always wondered what drove parents into murdering their children but looking at the grin on the dark haired woman’s face… he suddenly understood very well. “ i don’t see the point. how will you ever feel at home if this place doesn’t resemble an east london shithole ? ”
