pairing. coworker! hee x fem reader ❦︎ enemies2 friends; non-idol au, very suggestive, fluff. wc. 1965 synopsis. heeseung’s always been confident, so sure of himself but when you got hired, he felt a little threatened. too threatened by your strong and bold personality.

“woah who’s that?” heeseung nudged jay as they watched you walk by. “y/n. she just got hired.” oh heeseung was extremely intrigued.
“what department?” “i think the new marketing director?” jay glanced at heeseung and immediately knew what he was thinking. “don’t. she’s not the one.”
heeseung scoffs. “yeah right, until they are.” a cocky smile spreads across his stupidly handsome face.
“i’m serious, she’ll eat you alive.” jay tries to warn him. “promise?” jay groans in disgust while heeseung bites his lower lip, watching you work.
he catches you in the break room while you were making yourself a hot tea. jake and jay eating at the table, he doesn’t mind audiences watching him work his magic.
“hey pretty, i’m heeseung.” you’ve heard about heeseung. big flirt and also a big ghoster. you don’t have time for his little games, you’re a busy woman.
“so i’ve heard.” you turned towards him as you stir your tea. “you’ve heard?” his eyes light up as he tilt his head. “i’m sure it’s all good things baby, rumors are true.”
you took a step closer to him. “totally, if you think being a shrimp dick man whore with worms for brains is a good thing.” you tilt your head with a soft smile.
jake chokes on his drink as heeseung’s smile dies down. “hey, glad to know you live up to your reputation, heeseung.” you emphasize his name on purpose like he’s not a big deal he makes himself to be.
you took a sip of your tea before walking out, heeseung glaring at you the whole time.
jay calls out, taking heeseung out of his trance. “told you so.” heeseung turns around, looking very upset. “don’t even start.”
heeseung found himself getting annoyed every time he saw you now. you’re not hot anymore, you’re rude and apparently stuck up to the voices in his head.
he’s just ignoring the one ever so soft voice, telling him that he liked being put in his place. even more so, by you.
“are you gonna keep glaring at her or are you actually gonna do something?” jay looks over to heeseung’s computer screen that turned black because he was too busy trying to study you.
“shut up. she’s not even that hot.” he mumbles before finally looking away from you. “you only think that because she’s the first woman in your life that doesn’t give a fuck about you.” jay snickers, thinking back to the break room scene.
heeseung rolls his eyes. “she just wants to be different, to stand out to me.” he straightens up and clenches his jaw. “oh yeah she’s totally gonna suck your dick because you’re finally pretending to do your job.” jay shakes his head in amusement.
“can you not- look i turned it on.” heeseung replies while starting his computer again. “are you happy jay? look.” jay laughs. “yeah i can see that.”
heeseung tries to study you so hard. he watches your every move. he watches you talk to jay and sunghoon, you seem so kind.
laughing and smiling, god he wants to be the one you’re smiling at but you won’t even give him the time of day.
he starts to get frustrated. why won’t you talk to him? not even spare a single glance at him when all he does is stare at you.
you’re already in his head without even trying and he had to know why.
“why don’t you like me?” he stops you at the end of a conference meeting as people clear out. you stare at him. “i never said that.”
heeseung rolls his eyes so hard he could swear he saw his brain. “you didn’t have to say it. you treat me like i’m nothing, like i’m not even in your point of view.”
you almost laugh in his face. “sorry? my desk is across the room from yours. did you want me to do nothing but stare at you all day? is that what you want me to do to make you feel liked?” you let out a humorless laugh. is he serious?
heeseung’s frustration grows. “that’s not what i meant. i mean that you don’t even say hi to me, let alone breathe my way. am i so bad?”
you put down your laptop and started to get serious. “yeah you are, you treat woman like they’re some game. i see you staring at me like i’m some level you can’t pass. i’m not falling for your tricks and much less for you. so quit it, because nothings ever going to happen between us. not even in your fucking dreams, heeseung.” you scoff at him, picked up your laptop and left the room.
meanwhile he stands there with his cheeks flushed and a hungry look for more. more of your anger directed towards him.
he didn’t know he would love your anger so much. it made his dick twitch in his pants every single time you got rough with him.
it was very much “boy pulls girl’s hair because he liked her.” every single time you yelled at him, he looked at you like he yearned for more. those bambi eyes staring right back at you as if you were already his world.
and it’s because you are. he loves your smile and confidence just as much as he loves your fierce eyes and harsh words. you kept him on his feet and made him work harder just so maybe one day he can impress you for once.
he yearned just as much for a simple compliment from you.
you noticed. obviously you’re not fucking dense.
he always looked at you with his doe eyes. his big beautiful shiny eyes that hold the stars. you also noticed he only stares at you that way, no one else.
not a single other woman on his radar. little by little he was breaking down whatever walls you put up.
if you’re being honest, you wouldn’t have been so hard on him if he had just introduced himself like a normal person instead of pretending like he has the upper hand just because he’s a rich man and has a big ass ego, thinking you would fall for him immediately as if you were that shallow.
you grew into the strong woman you are today because of all the misogyny that goes on in the work place. being belittled just because you put on a little makeup and heels, ignored because your hair looks nice, harassed just because you are nice.
that’s why you don’t have any tolerance for men like him. if he wasn’t willing to learn then you aren’t willing to teach. it’s that simple.
it was that simple for him too. if it was you he’d listen all day. learn everything just for you.
finally you spoke up about his bambi eyes problem. “why do you always look at me that way when i’m angry at you?” you sneered at him.
his cheeks flushed just a little. “what do you mean?” he feigns annoyance. “i don’t look at you in any way.”
you crossed your arms. “yeah you do, you stare at me with those big eyes. they get bigger when i get louder. jesus do you like it?”
heeseung immediately steps back, hiding his blush behind his coffee mug. “no. i don’t like you, why would i like your yelling. i’m not fucking insane.” he rolls his eyes, sipping his coffee.
you glare at him for a second before shaking your head. “whatever, get your shit together.” he lets out a breath as you leave the break room.
he is fucking insane.
“when are you gonna tell her you’re crushing on her?” jay sits beside him as they drink at a bar near the office.
“i’m not crushing-“ jay interrupts. “yeah you do. you stare at her like you did that one girl in high school. you yearn.”
heeseung wants to act annoyed but he can’t lie to jay. “whatever, she doesn’t like me back so why does it matter?” heeseung shakes off the cringe feeling when he feels just how high school this whole situation is, you two could simply talk like the adults you are.
“i don’t know. she seems to be growing fond of you.” “yeah because her constant glaring and yelling means she likes me.” heeseung shoots jay an annoyed look before drinking his beer.
“no but her voice gets softer when she thinks she’s being too rough on you. her eyes linger on yours before she walks away. her body language shows she doesn’t actually hate you.” jay explains as if it isn’t the only thing giving heeseung hope.
“so why does she act like it?” he mumbles. “because you act like a dick. you think every woman wants to jump your bones. you’re kind of full of yourself.” jay shrugs. “but i mean i don’t know.”
“way to call me out.” heeseung looks at jay and they share a look. “just restart with her. say sorry and try to become her friend instead of her baby daddy.” heeseung lets out a laugh. “yeah. you’re probably right.” jay scoffs at him. “i’m always right.”
heeseung tried to find the perfect opportunity to talk to you, to say sorry but just around this time was the busiest so you were constantly on the move, in meetings, with clients.
you didn’t have time for anything else, let alone his annoying ass.
“w-wait y/n!” he caught up to you in the parking lot after a long day. you were the last one to leave the office or so you thought.
he’s been waiting for you ever since 5pm. it’s almost 9 now. you turn to him, praying he doesn’t end your night horribly. “yes?”
“i’ve been waiting for you. i-i wanted to talk to you.” his voice is getting softer now. almost shyer. “well, then?” “um…”
just now he realized that he’s never really apologized to anyone. he clear his throat. “i just wanted to say sorry… for the way i acted when we first met. i didn’t mean to come off as cocky or arrogant.”
your eyebrows furrowed, this is new. “you did though.” heeseung lets out an awkward sigh. “yeah i did. and i’m sorry for that, that’s not who i am or who i try to be.”
you think for a second. “okay. yeah it’s okay.” you reply softly now. “can we restart?” he looks at you with hopeful eyes. you feel the tug on your lips. “mhm.”
you see him let out a happier sigh now. “hi. i’m heeseung-“ “oh now?” you accidentally cut him off and he stammers. “i-if that’s okay with you- i mean we could go back into the office break room to make it more authentic ..” he rambles and it’s adorable. “what? back to the break room?” you say in between laughs.
he smiles now. “i don’t know sorry.” you finish laughing, staring at him. “now’s fine heeseung.” he smiles back at you before straightening up. “hi, i’m heeseung.” “i’m y/n” “what department are you working in?”
you giggle at how seriously he’s taking this. “i’m the new director of the marketing team.”
“cool! i’m the head of sales. it’s nice to meet you, y/n.” he holds out his hand and you shake it. “it’s nice to meet you too, heeseung.” you share the same soft smile and unspoken feelings.
working with heeseung is easier now.
even though he definitely fits the cocky rich man stereotype, it’s softer - almost gone when you’re around. he likes how you tame him and you like how pretty he looks when he is tamed. but you’re still friends, very close friends.
even though that’s the least the both of you want to be.
