Keb’ Mo’ “Crapped Out Again”

Been listening to Keb Mo since the early 90's and the man is so cool.  His music gives such a fresh kind of feel to the blues.  Saw him open a concert for Bonnie Raitt and blew everybody away!

Picked this song because I think almost everyone who works in radio can relate to this song... especially on the days before payday!

Metric has a new album coming out September 18th, 2015 called ‘Pagans in Vegas’ AND I'M SUPER PUMPED ABOUT IT...BUT I thought I'd showcase this fabulous song done acoustic! Calgary natives who throw a Halloween show at SAIT every year. These guys are the definition of party rock! I've had a chance to sit down with each member and they are cool as they come! They tour Canada a lot, so if you haven't seen them.. DO IT!

Gary Jules “Mad World”

"A teenage boy  tries to prevent the apocalypse with his friend, a six foot tall rabbit named Frank." That was the description satellite TV gave Donnie Darko years ago. Though it doesn't do the plot justice, it totally suckered me in and I'm glad it did. Mind blown. 

That movie, along with a bunch of books and music I was discovering at the same time, made me realize that I didn't have to be another hometown douche bag. Mad World was the standout song in the film and is the one I hear whenever I play the "What If?" game about never leaving Flin Flon.

David Bowie always surrounds himself with incredible musicians, an ever changing melting pot of talent.  It keeps his music and artistry fresh and relevant.  In the 90ies when Nine Inch Nails were the rage he got together with Trent Reznor (who often toured with him) and his old friend Brian Eno to create a social statement that unfortunately is timeless.

Years ago my music college professor likened Beck to a Second Viennese School composer for his use of a variety of different sounds, genres, etc.
