I actually made some Grabbles progress today.
Reworked saving and loading data, broke saving and loading in the process, fixed saving and loading...
Added disable fields to the grab enablers and made use of those for challenge 70 so I don't have to make Sliver ungrabbable outright, instead she becomes ungrabbable when you start the challenge sequence proper. (no reactions for Sliver, I'm happy with her state as is)
Copied the harrassment system over from sait pebbs to riv pebbs. I'm considering making that part of the base classes because I will have to copypaste all of that three times otherwise, but I'm worried about bloat, and because there's some hardcoded values in there that anyone using my mod to add custom grabbed behaviours might not agree with. So make it configurable, sure...but the whole thing already feels unintuitive enough, it might make more sense for people to just copypaste what I'm doing too? Genuinely undecided on this one, i know my base class already contains a lot of stuff that's pretty specific just in case...
I worked out some rough categorisation for riv pebbs dialogue and started brainstorming specific lines, but this is going to be the worst part. I need to figure out a progression for active harassment dialogue that doesn't get repetitive real fast, need alternates for the first/first of cycle dialogue, and everything else is basically just empty arrays now
adjustments for conversation dialogue are going to be necessary but I'll do that when I have more to test with
for dialogue spacing and frequency, idk, might yoink from what I did for sait with the base value changed because the sequences are similar enough what surprises me is that riv pebbles doesn't persistently dislike you no matter how many rocks you throw at him, so I miiiight lean into that energy and spare myself from making another mood progression system

So what is currently on the rain worl modding agenda, anyway?
Grabbable Iterators - exactly what it sounds like. Generally functional, though I might completely redo the way save data is handled to produce less clutter in the files. All of Pebbles' reactions are done except for Rivulet's campaign. Riv Pebbs and Moon have empty placeholder behaviours set up and ready to go, but considering how long Pebbles took me to write all of the dialogue and conditions for it's gonna be a long while until this is finished yet. Also what's there is in desperate need of playtesters because I can't judge what the mathematics of a natural feeling conversation are for the life of me.
The Epitome - custom campaign. Will probably never be finished because lediting is a unique hell to me, but the mechanics side of it is coming together nicely at least. The framework for the core gimmick along with a related mechanic is done (I am so excited tbh) but aside from the lediting, another roadblock is that I'm still trying to figure out some plot points. I know how this is going to end, just not how to justify getting there, because tying that big a change in status quo to player action goes against the design philosophy...if anyone wants to rubberduck this lmk I guess?
Modding Toolkit - everything I need to make custom content, developed alongside (as part of, but designed so I could split it into its own thing, or not) Epitome. Overridable base classes for custom campaigns, iterators, what have you, along with whatever dev tools objects I slap together that have general applicability, and utility things. Yes I know there's tools for all of that, but I am having so much fun with this one. Might go up on its own if I abandon Epitome, but since I'm using that project to figure out what all is even needed for a custom whatever, it's probably gonna be a while otherwise. The already released custom missions code will be moved to this one eventually.
