On this day, the great Clark Terry was born... he lived to be 94 & changed so many of us for the better. First love vibes 🎺. This beautiful piece of metal was my portal to the ancient alchemy of music. It protected me from distractions & idle time in the hood. It shielded me from the anxiety that comes with being a severely shy child. It’s unforgiving nature gave me a chance to build diligence & resilience on a daily basis (still does). It brought me gurus and friendships I will cherish for lifetimes to come. It gave me the opportunity to live my childhood dream of seeing the entire world (several times over). Most of all, it gave me a way to make sense of this world. It taught me early to close your eyes & go inward to find what you need.
