Copyright class actions could financially ruin AI industry, trade groups say.
AI industry groups are urging an appeals court to block what they say is the largest copyright class action ever certified. They’ve warned that a single lawsuit raised by three authors over Anthropic’s AI training now threatens to “financially ruin” the entire AI industry if up to 7 million claimants end up joining the litigation and forcing a settlement.
Authors have until March 30th, 2026 (That is just 9 days as of this reblog, which I am posting on March 21st, 2026) to file their claim against Anthropic to be reimbursed up to $3,000 per work found in the list.

He just stands there. Steady, like he’s waiting for something he knows is coming.
Race doesn’t know what the fuck he’s waiting for.
He moves to lean against the wall next to him. Maybe if they wait long enough, something good will come. Ha.
They stand there, waiting for whatever it is, for long enough that Race’s legs get tired and he slides down to sit instead. Unexpectedly, Spot follows him.
“I’ve got two options for conversation topics,” Spot says after they’ve been sitting there for a while, “Do you want the one about,” he gestures incomprehensibly in the air, “the shit? Or the distracting one?”
“Please, the distracting one.”
“Okay,” he hesitates for long enough that Race almost thinks…

Did you know that when one community says no to an AI data center, they specifically search out communities with fewer resources? Communities that can't defend themselves? Not censoring their username or the fic title because I believe in naming and shaming these people, but I felt a flash of rage when I saw the sheer amount of engagement this fic has, and somehow the comments were worse.
Don't do this, straight up, flat out. You are stealing from other writers who put their blood, sweat and tears into their work.
If you praise an AI generated work, you're not encouraging a writer, and it's not their words you were moved by. If no one cared to put time or effort into it, you shouldn't give them the time or effort to engage with it.
