I think one of the main reasons it took me so long was i was little hesitant because its about a church and i was worried how respectful it would be but it did really well on that front! I would argue that Cy not having access to the money was more akin to the Thromby/Drysdales being cut out of their inheritance.

While Harlan did it in a technically more legal manner, in both cases it was a vast fortune being kept out of the hands of those who did not deserve it and would use it wrongly.

There's the idea that money can corrupt, sure, but it's more that Cy, like the Thrombys, was already corrupted by it. They were all expecting this vast fortune and on that expectation, were incredibly entitled and awful about. While Harlan had a legal way to relocate the money his family was expecting (Marta) Jud did not have that option, as he doesn't legally have the control of that money, and so keeping it "missing" was the only option.

I feel like the Blanc movies aren't saying "money makes you evil" but "money in the hands of evil people is dangerous." The Thrombys didn't deserve their inheritance, so they lost it. Miles Bron didn't deserve his fortune, so he was ruined. Jefferson and Cy didn't deserve their inheritance, so it was kept buried.

All in all, Blanc is drawn to people with good hearts, and helps them where possible to keep or take power from those who would abuse it.
