lonely for only you

The past few days he had really been out of it. Between lying straight to Dylan’s face about a girl he could clearly see she had a vibe with and seeing his ex. He really hated that the blonde was thinking the same thing as him in college wise-granted his first choice would have been Juilliard if it was the case. Maybe he should have just taken that offer up. It could have been that bad. The male had started to get dressed after the blonde in question shot him a text wanting to meet up. Didn’t she have enough heartbreak for one week? Guess not. The sighed as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, walking into one of his favorite bars just around the corner of NYU as he waited for her, ordering a drink she always got and a straight glass of whiskey for himself. A drink of choice for him. He cleared his throat as he ran his hand through his perfectly placed hair as he placed his hand on his chin, drinking from the glass before he felt someone standing next to him, seeing Violet. “I ordered your drink.” Was all he let out for a moment.

Violet had no preconceived notions over how their conversation would go, she didn’t want to have this talk but for her own sanity she knew she needed it. Her intentions coming to NYU didn’t include Alex but now that was something she would have to deal with. She pushed her thoughts back as she walked down the street, her hands pushed into her high waisted jeans as she attempting to compile a sentence upon seeing him. She stepped into the crowded back but her eyes took little time finding Alex. She let out a long held breath and approached him from the side, nodding a bit. “I’m more of a martini girl now.. But this will do.” she mumbled and took a sip of the drink before sitting down. “I just.. needed to talk to you again.” she explained, her eyebrow raising as she looked up to him.

“I don’t care much to live a little with you, I’m sure we have different definitions of having fun.” He told the girl as his eyes kept up with her stare.

“Whats got you all grumpy? And what might be your definition of fun?” she questioned as she rolled on the balls of her feet. “I simply asked if you wanted to get a drink, not go streaking across campus.”

nodding her head, “not at all, more the merrier n stuff.” the blonde smiled cheerfully. she was enjoying being at a school where nobody really knew to much about her. “i’m cartia by the way.”

Victoria smiled softly and picked up her pace to get beside the girl, nodding at her name. “Pleasure to meet you, love. Names Victoria.” she introduced herself, her smile bright. “New here?”

Her words didn’t phase him at all, no change in facial expression at all. His eyes went from her back to the notebook in front of him. “I’m going to the library so I can get an assignment done.” He responded as he slipped the notebook into his backpack.

“Oh? Don’t care to live a little?” Violet questioned, pushing her eyebrow up on her forehead as she stared at Zion, a smirk playing on her lips. “I’m certain you can get it done later..”

cartia turned back to face the other blonde, stopping in her tracks this time, “oh cheers,” taking her black YSL knockoff wallet gratefully. “yeah especially seeing as i was on my way to buy a coffee, that could’ve been super awkward.”

“Yeah I definitely didn’t want you to lose it.” she chuckled softly and handed it over before crossing her arms. “Mind if I join you? Could use a latte..”

hearing a voice behind her, despite the fact she was new on campus she still presumed it was directed at her. spinning to face them as she continue to walk a happy grin on her face, “oops you weren’t talking to me were you?” she awkwardly completed a full three sixty as if it had never happened. 

“Yes! I was.. hun you dropped this.” Violet explained as she reached out, wallet in hand with a soft smile on her lips. “Don’t wan’t you to lose it.” she purred and handed it over.

“ call me odd, but tonight sounds like too soon to deal with a bunch of drunks after a three day party weekend.”

“Are you that much a wimp Merlot? Would have taken you for the kind to be able to handle it.. Seems i’ve very mistaken.”

“sure, go ahead,” cora smiled, not really expecting the interaction but welcoming it regardless. “it’s getting packed in here, there’s no way i’d expect anyone to have to stand when i have an empty chair.” she sipped her coffee before addressing the other again. “busy day, huh?”

“Long day indeed... thank you hun.” Violet sighed and took the open chair, crossing her long leg over the other as she took a sip from her mug, placing it down beside her phone. “Too much walking in shoes I shouldn’t be wearing.” she rolled her eyes and offered the girl a soft smile. “Violet.. I don’t think we’ve met.” she introduced herself, extending her hand outward.

There is this beautiful rooftop bar in SoHo that I tend to escape to, bit unknown, quiet, gorgeous view of the city.

i’d rather not say.. but, i’m wiser, smarter and better off because of it.
