I don't think Damon would react well to that, but not because he'd stop loving you. if anything, it'd frustrate him.

imagine spending hours telling him: "You're too good for me. I'm ugly. You deserve someone better."

and Damon just sitting there like: "Okay, rosebud, but I didn't choose someone else. I chose you." "Why do you keep trying to argue with me about my own feelings??"

the funny thing is that Damon is insecure too. he isn't some hyper-confident guy looking down at your insecurities. he's a lonely stalker who falls in love too easily and desperately wants to be loved back.

so I don't think he'd hear "You deserve better." and think: "Wow, you're right."

what he hears from you is: "Your feelings are wrong. You made a bad choice. You shouldn't love me."

and he'd push back against that pretty hard. you simply cannot successfully convince this man~ (and between us, anon, Damon is stubborn enough that he'd dig his heels in and love you more out of sheer spite 😉)

If we love him too little, he'd abandon us.

If we love him too much, he'd abandon us.

There's no real way to love Damon it seems like, especially for me who has severe abandonment issues and spirals wondering if I'd be abandoned or cheated on when they're not present. Now I have to fear being too much as well as being too little.

So knowing if we struggle with loneliness that severe, he'd get tired of us and abandon us, having DG kill us, that breaks my heart tbh.

the scenario in the ask wasn't "MC has abandonment issues" or "MC gets anxious when Damon leaves." it was an extreme example where MC literally cannot tolerate Damon sleeping, using the bathroom, showering, or going to work without having a breakdown. that's not "loving someone too much." that's a relationship that has become impossible to function in.

if MC cannot let Damon function like a normal person, then Damon will eventually get sick. sleep deprivation is a form of torture and can have serious consequences for someone's health.

1. How would Damon react to an MC that was fighting against the obsessive side (the one that came after Damon made a wish that they were just as obsessed with Damon as Damon was with them) and the side that’s the real them (one that doesn’t want to be with Damon)? Also, MC in this scenario did originally like Damon back, but then they started feeling weird and pulling away which caused Damon to make that wish.

2. How would Damon react to a super obsessive MC, an MC that doesn’t want to be without him for even a second. Damon uses the bathroom, MC panics and cries asking them to unlock the door. Damon goes to sleep, MC panics and tries to wake them up in case they were dead instead of asleep and also because MC wants their attention 24/7. Damon tries to go to work, MC freaks, begs, and cries for Damon not to go

Also, this is a hypothetical scenario, I do not act this way and no one should be in a relationship if they act this way.

1. Damon would probably find the situation deeply upsetting and confusing. At first, he'd likely focus on the parts he wants to hear. If MC starts crying because they don't know which feelings are theirs anymore, Damon might interpret that as proof that the "real" feelings are the obsessive ones and that something else is trying to pull them apart. He already has a tendency to view love as something precious and rare that must be protected at all costs. The idea that MC is actively resisting being with him would terrify him. The problem is that Damon is observant enough to notice when someone is forcing themselves. If MC is saying things like: "I love you. I love you. I love you." while visibly miserable, pulling away, avoiding eye contact, or begging him to make it stop, eventually he'd realize this isn't the relationship he fantasized about. Damon wants devotion, but he also wants to be wanted. The more MC struggles, the more he'd feel caught between relief that they're obsessed with him and fear that the obsession isn't actually theirs. We know Damon fears loneliness. But he also fears uncertainty. He can handle polite rejection better than ambiguity. A clean "I don't love you" hurts. A person who simultaneously loves him, hates him, wants him, fears him, and begs him for help would slowly drive him insane.

2. At first he'd probably find it flattering. MC wanting to spend every second with him, wanting constant affection, clinging to him everywhere? He'd love that. The problems start when MC becomes impossible to function around. If he closes the bathroom door and immediately hears sobbing outside and then opens it to find MC having a complete breakdown because they couldn't see him for three minutes, the novelty would wear off very quickly. Damon still has a job and responsibilities. He still needs sleep. He still wants to take a shower without someone clawing at the door. The sleeping example is especially bad. Sleep deprivation turns people irritable, irrational, and sick. Damon's patience is much greater when he feels loved, but even his limits exist. I think what makes this situation tragic is that he'd eventually realize MC isn't actually happy. They're terrified all the time. Terrified he'll leave, die, stop loving them. Terrified whenever he's out of sight. That's not the dream relationship Damon imagines. So depending on how severe it gets, he might even start trying to create distance himself because the affection has become way too exhausting, and that realization would horrify him. After spending his entire life feeling unwanted, discovering that someone can love him too much would be one of the most uncomfortable lessons he could learn. Especially because he'd have no idea how to fix it </3

Damon: A shy MC is cute to him and feels safe to be around. At first, though, he might mistake your shyness for dislike. "Is MC scared of me? Did I do something wrong?" Thankfully, stalking you would quickly reveal that you act that way with everyone, not just him. That's when his worries start to fade and his curiosity takes over.

He'd spend a lot of time wondering what you're thinking. If you avoided him one day, he'd probably overanalyze it. He'd learn you like a language. He'd want to know what it takes to make you finally look at him. Despite being a little shy himself, he'd usually be the one approaching you. He'd chat about all sorts of things—many of them topics he secretly knows you're interested in. He'd tell you he'd love to hear your voice more often, and he'd be thrilled whenever you opened up to him.

Watching you grow more comfortable around him and become more talkative is something he finds absolutely adorable. You aren't giving everyone that side of yourself. And that would make him feel special~

DG: Shy people are fun to tease. He'd invade your personal space, make sudden movements, say the most unhinged things in the calmest voice—just to see a reaction. "Hello? Anyone home?" *waves hand in front of your face* "Relax. I don't bite unless you ask nicely~" That said, he's not a patient person. If the shy phase stretched into genuine avoidance of him specifically for too long, he'd get bored or annoyed. But if you're just shy in general? He can work with that. And if you eventually opened up and got talkative? He'd find it hilarious. "Oh great, now it won't shut up. I liked you better when you were a statue." (He's lying of course ;3)
