alrighty, here's finally my post regarding Vito's powers ^o^
(Vito is my OC in the game, so don't expect the same for the others, at least not right now. Blastic would have to talk to me about their powers first.)
Vitoβs powers revolve around shadows as living extensions of himself. If he can get close enough with his own shadow, he is able to seize control of another personβs shadow and, through it, partially or fully override their bodily movements, like a puppeteer pulling strings. This control is never guaranteed: a strong mental and physical resistance can disrupt or break his hold. Vito is only capable of controlling a single individual at a time (while his siblings are capable of controlling more than one person).
Any shadow in the physical world can serve as a gateway into the Shadow Realm. He uses these openings to disappear, hide, or traverse vast distances in an instant. While the Shadow Realm itself contains no light, it is accessible exclusively through existing shadows cast in the real world. Total darkness renders Vito powerless, as he requires a light source to produce shadows in the first place.
Vito can give depth and substance to shadows, turning flat silhouettes into fully three-dimensional constructs. Most often, he animates his own shadow into a physical combat partner that fights alongside him. These constructs possess resistance rather than true mass and cannot generate new shadows on their own.
Shadows cast by objects are equally malleable to him. By manipulating them, Vito can hurl the objects themselves at his enemies, seemingly ignoring their actual size or weight. However, this ability is limited: objects that are firmly installed or anchored, such as buildings or terrain, are immune. He must also remain within a moderate distance of the shadow he is manipulating; shadow size or surface area has no influence on his control.
Vito can detach his own shadow, or commandeer anotherβs, and send it away to act as a messenger, allowing him to communicate with others across great distances. This technique demands his complete and undivided focus; while his shadow is away, he is incapable of performing any other actions, and is left dangerously vulnerable, making this ability unusable in combat situations.
Vito is also capable of dragging other HuevΓ€ri into the Shadow Realm, where he can imprison them indefinitely, cutting them off from the physical world. This requires direct physical contact. Those without shadow-related abilities have no means of escape; over time, the Shadow Realm alters them, gradually absorbing them until they become part of it. As long as a foreign presence remains imprisoned, Vito permanently sacrifices a portion of his own power. Once the victim is fully assimilated and no longer considered a foreign body, his strength can return to its full potential.
There exists a forbidden technique that would allow him to remove a personβs shadow entirely. Doing so would permanently tear away a fragment of the victim's soulβdamage that can never be undone. Vito is reluctant to study this art.
His most commonly used technique is the creation of three-dimensional shadow tendrils, which he shapes into weapons and uses as his primary means of combat.
EDIT: based on some of the comments, I think it's worth mentioning that Vito's power level is actually pretty standard among the HuevΓ€ri. he's not overpowered. he has very clear weaknesses that others can exploit, and there are plenty of opponents whose abilities can directly counter his own.
also, keep in mind that you haven't really met any other characters yet that can be used as a fair comparison point. right now, Vito is the main example you have, so it's easy for his abilities to seem stronger than they actually are within the setting ^^
