TW: A difficult read, but important to know that it is these horrors, these terrible, heinous things that Turks both deny and take pride in to this day. This is the reason we won't stay silent. This is the reason we will continue to remember, to speak up, to demand justice.

You need to understand how it must feel that your grandmother, whose mother’s soles were worn from walking through the desert, who burnt her face with cigarette butts so she wouldn’t be raped by Turkish soldiers, who watched as her newborn baby was torn from her arms and thrown into the sand by Turkish soldiers, and whose body was slowly mutilated (cut open) in front of her daughter (my grandmother), is still hearing denial about the Armenian Genocide, the denial of her mother’s sufferings, the denial of her mother’s brutal murder, the denial of her little brother’s murder, all which she witnessed right in front of her eyes.

Beirut is being absolutely wrecked right now. God knows what the casualty numbers are, everyone living there is SOMEONE, you know? Like you and everyone else you know. With pasts with futures they look forward to with dreams with entire worlds inside them. Israel and the US are flattening hundreds of worlds as we speak, killing so many innocents constantly with no repercussions, unfathomable amounts of destruction being waged right before our eyes, this can't go on.

You've probably missed it, but since the two week ceasefire agreement with Iran that included all of Iran's allies and all of the US's allies, Israel has been bombing the hell out of Lebanon non-stop in what they are calling Operation Eternal Darkness, a flagrant violation of the ceasefire and a senseless slaughter. They are bragging about how they performed "100 strikes in 10 minutes." It is worse now than it has been at any point prior. More than a million people in Beirut have been displaced. The casualties are unknown and unknowable.

Bragging and calling an outright genocide and ethnic cleansing "an operation" is just sickening, and I'm seeing it all over tumblr as if it's something to be proud of. Israelis are not and have never been in the right. Anyone with a conscience can see that, and honestly, I think we're learning that many people don't have a conscience at all. "Eternal Darkness" especially is just so inhumane.
