normally my thoughts about hitori's career are just :) math quail :) because math is cool and i love that hitori is so smart. But I just made myself very sad about it because...

I remember being confused that he was a famous mathematician at age 25 because irl a 25yo would be a grad student, not a professor + also that he's a 'famous mathematician' but teaching at a high school. maybe academic standards are different for birds bc of the shorter lifespan? but then that means they would have to learn all the math to become mathematicians much faster, so maybe birds are smarter than humans in this universe. hatoful boyfriend didn't do that much worldbuilding on academia and higher education in the hatoful boyfriend universe, but it does say that college exists (since kazuaki was trying to get into college). Maybe undergrad and grad school are like, combined, and prestigious high schools are also considered research institutions (like how a famous doctor is the school doctor there because he's doing terrible illegal research). Or his fame is more for him as an educator (despite falling asleep during all his lectures -- he was a good tutor in the backstory though)?
