I do not want to see anyone using any sort of slurs on my profile or on any reposts of my content. Not everyone is comfortable reclaiming slurs, especially if they have trauma / negative experiences tied to them, and I am not able to know if someone is actually able to reclaim them. Censored or shortened words are fine, however, such as QP / QPR as a couple examples.

INTRO

A Knight of Beauty who no longer has hope in Idrila’s existence and has begun leaning towards the path of Harmony, but continues to stay loyal to his faction regardless.

Malachi is half wingweaver, but he doesn’t let negative perceptions from others get in the way of anything.

PERSONALITY

Despite being a Knight of Beauty, Malachi is much more serious and reserved. When interacting with him, people are surprised at how not eccentric he is as a Knight of Beauty.

However, he’s as gentle as they come. Malachi has a big heart, which gets him into trouble with those who take advantage of his compassion on occasion.

He can also be quite stern; other Knights of Beauty often refer to Malachi as The Captain due to how hardheaded and stubborn he can be at times, often deciding to lead rather than follow others.

He follows the same code of chivalry that the other Knights of Beauty follow, but only to an extent. He does not truly believe that Idrila is still alive. He only follows THEM and THEIR Path as it’s the only thing he has left to keep him going.

BACKSTORY

HISTORY

Growing up, Malachi was either picked on for his wings, or was constantly surrounded by other children who would touch and pull at them. His father was a Wingweaver and his mother was a human; both were cosmic pirates, but his father raised Malachi without any knowledge on Wingweaver customs or culture. In a way, Malachi was more human than he was the other.

Throughout his teen years, it was the same way. Others constantly gawked at his wings, or they would sneer at how different he was compared to those around him.

KNIGHTS OF BEAUTY

Malachi never discusses his past with anyone, and has tried to forget about it for the longest time.

It wasn’t long after his nineteenth birthday that he had met a few Knights of Beauty, who complimented his wings, but they dared not to touch them. They asked if they could recruit him as a Knight, to which Malachi agreed after a short while. He trained for a long time; learning their Code of Chivalry, joining them on occasion when needed, and even being introduced to other Knights and followers of Beauty as well.

Despite his Wingweaver heritage, some followers perceived him to be the pinnacle of Beauty, resulting in Malachi developing quite high standards and expectations for himself to fit the role that they wanted.

THE HARMONY

Even though Malachi has found himself leaning towards the Path of Harmony over time, he refuses to leave his faction behind.

He doesn’t believe Idrila is still alive, but he still believes in the Beauty’s teachings and beliefs, while also believing in the beliefs of those to stride on the Path of Harmony.

TRIVIA

Malachi has haphephobia. This has to do with his past, and very rarely will he allow anyone to touch him.

His gun is a mini grande launcher! It shoots little grenades that are shaped like clouds called Love Puffs. They explode to form heart shaped fire and smoke.

Malachi was heavily inspired by the lovecore aesthetic, mostly the self-love aspect of it.

Argenti and Malachi were introduced to each other at some point due to external factors. Two wandering Knights who came across each other by pure chance, recognizing the other as a follower of Beauty thanks to Argenti’s armor, and Malachi’s overall identity, which had spread throughout the cosmos at some point; a Wingweaver who was also a Knight of Beauty was unheard of, but Malachi himself stood before Argenti, waiting for the awestruck man to speak during their first meeting.

Being a man of few words, Malachi doesn’t say much, but that seems to always change whenever Argenti is around. The two are quite comfortable with each other, perhaps due to their shared interest in spreading kindness and love throughout the cosmos.

Introduction

Merlin’s first apprentice, and Camelot’s first magic-wielding knight before King Arthur’s reign.

Peristram is the only known wizard to be created through magic according to Merlin, although the old man may or may not be harboring secrets about his former apprentice.

Personality

When Peristram was Merlin’s apprentice, he was fun-loving and curious about the world around him. He was the total opposite of his master, even when it came to magic, believing that it shouldn’t be restricted if it was in the right hands. It didn’t last for long, though, as Merlin’s constant belittling and criticism slowly led to Peristram becoming colder and distant, and much more desperate to prove that he was good enough.

After his exile by Merlin, he became callous and more determined than ever to prove himself. Even if it meant turning to the Arcane Order to benefit himself in his goals.

Despite all his anger and resentment towards Merlin, Peristram is insecure and constantly terrified of making the smallest mistakes, thanks to constant criticism and pressure from his ex-mentor.

Powers & Abilities

Peristram was created by Merlin in an attempt to balance out dark magic with daylight.

It did work (even though Merlin refused to believe it at the time), so Peristram’s magic is a perfect balance of both.

This classifies him as a demigod. Not as strong as the Arcane Order, but most likely placed right below them and right above regular wizards.

History

Peristram was created from an accident when Merlin had attempted to combine daylight with dark magic, hoping to be able to use both types of magic to find a way to balance them, and to purify the dark magic.

This did not work the way Merlin wanted and resulted in an explosion, and to his surprise, a being born from the opposite forced fusing into a more complex and powerful entity.

Apprenticeship

Years before Arthur became King and outlawed magic, Peristram was Merlin’s apprentice for quite a few years. However, they were opposites in almost everything, although Merlin had expected such an outcome.

Unlike Merlin, his apprentice did not care for the restriction or suppression of magic, even dark magic; this was the result of the dark magic in Peristram’s body being balanced with the light magic, which Merlin was not fond of, as he believed it to be entirely impossible.

In an attempt to suppress this dark magic, Merlin criticized Peristram with every mistake, sealed Peristram’s dark magic with painful seals, and would forbid him from making friends with the common folk. These reoccurring events only caused Peristram to despise Merlin, to the point that he would actively avoid the wizard if he could.

Exile

Peristram’s resentment only grew stronger, and he eventually decided that he would find something that would prove he was worthy enough to be a wizard, and to perhaps stop Merlin’s disappointment with him altogether.

Peristram snuck into his master’s workshop and grimoire, trying to find something that would help him in his goals. He made a mistake in the process of reading the spell he had found and it backfired, counteracting with the fusion of the dark and light magic in his body, and causing him to lose the left half of his face.

Merlin had quickly found out and when he found Peristram, he exiled him in a fit of rage.

Arcane Order

Not long after Peristram’s exile, he caught the eyes of the Arcane Order, but it was solely his power that had caught their attention. They were curious about how his existence was even possible, and they promised to take him in under their wing, as long as he allowed them to study his magical-genetic makeup.

During his time with the Arcane Order, Peristram also trained with Skrael, who was more than eager to have a new toy to play with. The training, however, helped Peristram become stronger and he eventually learned how to control his paradoxical magic.

He left his old life behind and took on a new identity; Mordred, the Lord of Twilight.

Trivia

He no longer refers to himself as Peristram, but instead as Mordred. Only Merlin, Douxie, and Morgana continue to refer to him as Peristram.

His last name, Benedictus, means blessed in Latin. The choosing of this was intentional on Merlin’s part. He had hoped for Peristram to do great things, and had considered Peristram’s creation to be a blessing at one point. Over the course of Peristram’s corruption arc, this last name has become rather ironic.

Misc. Notes

I came up with Peristram’s idea after Merlin told Douxie he couldn’t lose another apprentice. It made me wonder just how many apprentices he could’ve possibly had over the years, considering he is implied to be around as old as the Arcane Order (billions of years old as far as I remember).

Merlin’s tendency to act as if he is never wrong despite his often questionable actions was also another source of inspiration for Peristram’s development. I wondered what would’ve happened if there was a mistake that Merlin couldn’t cover up.

This led to the concept of the abusive treatment towards Peristram, resulting in Merlin’s actions playing a role in creating a villain despite thinking he was doing it for the greater good, being the worst mistake that would haunt Merlin for the rest of his life.

Peristram is essentially the tragic villain archetype.

If Merlin hadn’t tried to force Peristram to repress the dark magic in him, isolated him and held him back from making friends, constantly belittled him for every mistake Peristram made, and so on, things most likely would’ve turned out differently for Arcadia in general.

Peristram wouldn’t have been exiled, which was another driving factor in King Arthur’s decision in banning magic years later. Arthur was merely a child when Peristram was exiled by Merlin, but he had witnessed the whole thing, and that was another moment when young Arthur’s belief that magic was dangerous had been proven.

Relationships

Merlin

Peristram’s master and creator.

He doesn’t hold any positive opinions towards Merlin, and he would not be surprised if the old wizard genuinely regretted creating him. For years, Peristram had tried to gain Merlin’s support and respect, but he eventually gave up, turning to villainy instead.

The constant belittling, criticism, and even the physical pain from Merlin’s attempts in molding Peristram to be perfect grew to be too much for his apprentice, causing Peristram to eventually snap and swear vengeance on his former mentor.

Merlin has to now deal with the fact that he lost an apprentice due to his own unforgivable actions, and that nothing will ever be able to fix the relationship between them.

Hisirdoux

Peristram was always jealous of the kindness and respect Hisirdoux received from Merlin, even if it was very little. Despite that, however, he could never bring it upon himself to harm Hisirdoux or blame him for Merlin’s actions.

Even though Peristram no longer views Merlin as a father figure, he does view Hisirdoux as a younger brother of sorts.

Skrael

During Peristram’s time with the Arcane Order, Skrael was tasked by Bellroc to teach the newcomer how to control and balance his magic, with Bellroc hoping that it would at least bring some progress to their goals. Skrael was essentially appointed as Peristram’s mentor, as long as the wizard stayed with the Order.

The time spent together slowly brought Peristram out of his distant shell, and despite Skrael’s unpleasant behavior, Peristram found himself completely enamored with the North Wind’s playful nature.

Perhaps Peristram has become quite fond of the demigod, but he would never, ever make it too obvious. On the other hand, Skrael finds Peristram to be entertaining, often pulling a few pranks on him here and there purely out of sadistic pleasure.

How’s his relation to the others of the House of the Hearth?

In general, Yakov was a bit of an outcast due to his (honestly more normal) interests in geology and machines, so while he was a “brother” to the other orphans, the others still saw him as pretty weird and bizarre.

He referred to Crucabena as his “Mother” like the other orphans, although he didn’t exactly form an attachment to her like a child his age at the time usually would have. This only caused him to become even more of an outcast.

Arlecchino and/or Freminet/Lyney/Lynette — did he know them once but no longer does? Do they have opinions of him??

I’m gonna go ahead and say that the lore involving these 4 kinda threw me for a loop with their implied age ranges, so the information regarding them may be incorrect..? But I’ll answer this the best I can.

Arlecchino

Considering Yakov was introduced to and taken in by Dottore when Crucabena was still the Knave and Yakov was in his early 20s, he did not interact with Arlecchino when she was still known as Peruere, because at the time, Peruere had not been taken in yet.

He did become familiar with her after she became the current Knave, though, but this is mostly due to Dottore trusting Yakov to send more important letters to the other Harbingers whenever needed.

Yakov doesn’t call her “Father” since he was suspended from the HoH after being put under Dottore’s supervision, and he is probably older than Arlecchino anyway, so it would just be kinda weird for him to call her that.

Lyney + Lynette

Same as above.. he probably doesn’t know these two personally, aside from what he has heard about their shows.

Freminet

Yakov has most likely supplied Freminet with scraps and other equipment from the Doctor’s lab occasionally, with Dottore and Arlecchino’s permission, of course.

Introduction

Yakov was taken in by the Fatui as an infant after a traumatic experience involving his parents, and grew up in the House of the Hearth.

He was taken in by the Second Harbinger as an assistant, being slowly conditioned over time to be prepared to take The Doctor’s place if it ever came down to it.

History

Origins

Yakov was taken into the Hearth as a young teenager, with Crucabena telling him that his parents were involved in an accident. Yakov knew this was a lie, though. Crucabena had assumed that Yakov would repress the memory, but he remembered it fairly well, resulting in his nonverbal state and avoidance of others.

He spent most of his time to himself, and the toys and machines he would disassemble, which often resulted in ridicule and criticism from some of the other children at times. His skills with rocks brought attention to Crucabena, however, who reported it to the Tsaritsa when Yakov was in his teens.

The Doctor

Yakov was introduced by the Tsaritsa to The Doctor, who was intrigued by his skills and ended up taking Yakov under his wing as his assistant. At the time, Yakov had assumed that he would only be fetching supplies for the man, and eventually the Doctor’s segments. He did for a while, and even helped the Harbinger with some experiments.

However, after a nearly fatal explosion during one of his experiments, Dottore ended up replacing most of Yakov’s organs with ancient machinery that he had come across on multiple occasions. In doing so, he had saved Yakov’s life, but also lengthened his assistant’s lifespan.

Yakov has since been able to endure what most humans cannot, or what humans in general cannot endure at all. Because of this, he is considered to be one of Dottore’s most successful and respected “experiments.” This has brewed some feelings of jealousy among those who envy his high rank and the attention he receives from the Harbingers.

No one knows what Dottore was thinking when he decided to save his assistant’s life, as he usually threw them out when they were no longer of any use to him. Only Dottore is aware of why he saved Yakov, but he will never share the reason.

The Accident

The incident is never brought up by those within the Fatui, due to The Doctor losing all of his research in the explosion and nearly losing his most trusted assisstant.

That does not mean that nobody remembers. It’s actually quite the opposite.. everyone remembers it well.

At some point during his new life in assisting the Harbinger, Yakov was tasked with bringing supplies to the man’s lab. The supplies in question were vials of various liquids, none of which he knew what they contained. He had already proven to be trustworthy enough to handle such equipment before, so nobody foresaw the catastrophe.

Yakov brought the supplies to his boss’s lab, which was empty and unsupervised, albeit a bit messy, a common sight that Yakov was used to by then. He never questioned when the lab was empty, as that was usually a sign that the Doctor was busy elsewhere.

It didn’t happen long after Yakov had dropped off the supplies and accidentally knocked over one of the open jars on the Harbinger’s desk, causing the contents to spill over a small bunch of unorganized wires. He didn’t have a long enough opportunity to react before the cords short circuited, immediately catching fire and causing an explosion within the lab.

The Doctor was informed of the situation and immediately rushed to find out what had caused it.

Dottore found Yakov among the rubble and countless destroyed experiments, and it wasn’t a pretty sight. The chemicals and debris had destroyed Yakov’s eyes, and his arm was blown off from trying to move the cords that had been fried away from the door to prevent it from harming anyone outside the lab. His limb and both of his eyes were replaced by the Doctor during the procedure, along with other organs that were damaged in the process.

No one knows how Yakov survived the explosion or the fire at such a close range, but everyone knows that if Dottore hadn’t done what he did to save him, Yakov definitely wouldn’t have had much longer to live.

Trivia

Scapino, or The Varlet, is his code name given to him by Dottore. The Harbinger has (jokingly) declared that if Yakov were to ever take his place as the next Doctor, he would much rather have Yakov choose The Varlet over The Doctor as his title.

Yakov’s eyes were originally hazel. They were another part of him that had to be replaced by Dottore after the explosion in the Harbinger’s lab, resulting in them being a different color than what they once were. Unfortunately, this procedure has resulted in occasional migraines afterwards.

Yakov does not have an Ancient Name. His parents left their tribe with him before he could ever possibly receive one. If he were to ever receive an Ancient Name, though, it would most likely be Zawadi, which means gift as far as I can find in Swahili.

Yakov is fated to experience a corruption arc. He used to be a sweet kid, tried his hardest to keep everything together, but his life experiences with his childhood trauma and constant rejection from others has made him just as horrible as the man who has practically raised him. Yakov just has yet to snap.

When he and his parents were still living with their tribe, Yakov was one of the youngest gem appraisers of the Children of Echoes. He is now the Fatui’s most knowledgeable man when it comes to ores and mining.

Relationships

II Dottore

The Doctor is Yakov’s boss and technically his savior, and also probably something close to a father figure.

Yakov and Dottore first met 7 years after Crucabena reported Yakov’s skills and interests to the Tsaritsa, who arranged a meeting between him and the Harbinger to confirm if the switch to being under Dottore’s supervision would be a worthwhile decision.

Yakov was quiet.

Too quiet, only answering The Doctor’s questions with a nod or shake of his head. Dottore didn’t find it to be too much of an issue, as he was more focused on the skills that Yakov’s documents mentioned, and he was curious about just how well these skills would aide him in his own research.

Dottore agreed to the Tsaritsa’s offer and Yakov was officially suspended from the House of the Heart, and placed under Dottore’s supervision.

At first, Dottore was a bit reluctant in allowing him to help with his experiments so closely, as Yakov was jumpy and avoided speaking for a while, but Yakov proved to be more than competent over time.

Yakov slowly started to open up to the Harbinger the more he worked alongside him. Dottore became aware of Yakov’s difficulties with reading and writing, and a few of his other peculiarities, but Dottore didn’t find any problem with it, as Yakov was still able to complete the tasks he was given without issue. He did have to help Yakov when it came to some of these matters either way, however.

It was like that for a few years as the two worked together. Yakov would use his knowledge on ores to supply Dottore with ones that could be useful for various experiments, and Dottore taught Yakov everything that he knew in return.

After an explosion in his lab during an experiment, Dottore brought it upon himself to save his assistant, replacing some of Yakov’s internal organs with machines and tech as a form of life support. In doing so, he succeeded in saving Yakov, while also lengthening his lifespan, although that part of the process was completely unintentional.
