pairing: jealous! jermajesty x stonewalling! reader
The trip had been planned months ago. You and your girls could barely find free time in each of your schedules to all hang out. So, you and your friends had planned a trip to Miami to finally enjoy some time all together.
Jermajesty had been against this from the beginning, having a problem with you going there of all places.
âThis trip has been in the works for a while now, itâs nothing new.â You were about to leave, going around your room for any last minute things you might have forgotten.
You hear a huff on the phone. âAnd I been said you shouldnât be going, itâs nothing new.â Jermajestyâs sarcastic choice of words pissed you off.
âThe problem is that you donât trust me.â You were getting angry and tears were starting to gather in your eyes. That made you even more pissed off.
âYou the one tryna go to Miami of all places. I mean what the fuck?â You could hear the noises of traffic over the phone.
You take a breath, trying to not let your voice shake. âYouâre not listening to me.â
He was quiet for a moment, and you thought he was finally taking in what you were trying to say. Why go throw away a two year relationship for something so quick and meaningless? You loved Jermajesty with all your heart. Youâd hoped he would have more faith in his long-term girlfriend.
âI donât want you to go. Thatâs final.â
You closed your eyes. Heâs not gonna listen. You inhale, then exhale. You look to the multiple bags in your room, ready to go.
âOkay.â Your voice is calm, completely void of any emotion.
Jermajesty is quiet for a split second, not expecting that answer. âAlright. Iâll be home in a couple hours, Iâm going to see Jafaar.â
âOkay.â There it was again. That same answer in that same monotone voice. You hung up before he could say anything more.
He doesnât wanna listen to and be a insecure asshole? Fine.
You get a message from one of your friends, Samara, letting you know she was out front. Picking up your bags, you head out the door.
Your movements are calm and collected, too calm and collected.
Samara notices instantly. âYou okay girl?â She pushes her shades up, eyeing you suspiciously.
âOh I will be.â You swipe into Jermajestyâs contact, putting it on mute. Youâll speak to him when you get back, not wanting him to taint the trip youâve been looking forward to for a while.
She pulls off, heading to the airport to meet the others.
Jermajesty hadnât heard from you since the call. He wasnât shocked though, knowing you were still pissed about the trip.
On the way to the apartment you both shared, he stopped for some popcorn and picked up your favorite snacks. Maybe the two of you could have a movie night in.
The lights were off when Jermajesty opened the front door, the usual warm lighting of the lamps you had bought was nowhere to be found. Maybe you had gone to bed already?
He called out to you, asking you to come out to the kitchen where he started making the popcorn.
He shouted out again. Yet he received the same response. Nothing.
With confusion, he walked towards your shared bedroom, but it was vacant. He went to your closet, opening the drawers where your bathing suits were usually kept. Nothing.
âI know her ass did not.â
Jermajesty pulled his phone out, calling you to no answer. His texts received the same treatment.
He went to instagram next, seeing that you posted a story not too long ago.
You were on a plane, taking a selfie with your friends. Now he was pissed.
You left anyways, despite his complaints and him telling you no. Heâd wait a few more hours when youâd sure to be off the plane before calling again.
As the time went on, he became more and more agitated. He ate the popcorn in annoyance, waiting for any sighting of you he could get.
Your girls were able to keep your mind off of Jermajesty and his idiocy. As much as they could anyway.
Getting off the plane, you guys made your way to the hotel.
âGirl you gotta mess with him a bit.â Samara was taking selfies, seeing you check to see if Jermajesty messaged you. He had. Multiple times.
You look up. âWhat you mean?â
Samara rolled her eyes. âYou gonna put on some grown makeup, a sexy outfit, and Iâm gonna take the best photos of you to make that man lose his mind.â
You threw your phone on the bed, falling back on it dramatically and letting out a huff.
He did piss you off and you werenât ready to talk to him yet. Maybe making a couple posts wouldnât be so bad.
Jermajesty was living in hell.
He was checking his social media every two minutes, hoping to see if youâd put anything on your story. Every response he sent was left unsanswered.
He knew you were doing this on purpose.
You had always done this when you were upset. Whenever you felt like someone wasn't listening to you, you shut down. You stopped arguing. Stopped explaining yourself. Stopped responding.
And usually, Jermajesty could get you to talk eventually.
This time you were in Miami. With your friends. And apparently having the time of your life.
He grabbed it instantly, expecting to see a message from you.
Instead, it was Instagram.
Jermajesty clicked on it and there you were.
You were dressed up now, makeup done, hair styled, looking completely unbothered. The caption was something simple.
âmiami looks good on me đâ
Jermajesty sat up, jaw clenched in annoyance. âOh, so this what we doing?â
He watched the next story.
You and your friends were at dinner, laughing over drinks
Then another picture. You sitting in the middle of your girls, smiling at the camera.
Then another. A mirror selfie.
All posted mere seconds ago, going back and forth between the pictures to study each one.
Jermajesty stared at the screen for a long moment.
He knew you looked good. Of course you did. You always did.
But the fact that you were posting all of this while actively ignoring him?
He typed out a message, thumb flying across the keyboard.
Jermajesty: So you can post but you can't answer me?
Then he saw you had viewed his message. Another minute passed.
âYou gotta be fucking kidding me.â
He called. Straight to voicemail.
He called again. Same thing.
Jermajesty tossed his phone onto the couch, running a hand over his face.
He knew he was being insecure. He knew that. But you knew exactly what you were doing. You were being petty.
And the worst part was that it was working.
By the next morning, you had almost convinced yourself that you werenât thinking about him.
You and the girls had gone out the night before, staying out way later than you had planned. You had laughed until your stomach hurt, danced until your feet hurt, and drank enough to make the entire argument with Jermajesty feel distant.
That was the point of the trip.
You didnât want to think about him. You didnât want to think about the argument. You didnât want to think about how his voice had sounded when he told you that you werenât going.
You just wanted to enjoy yourself.
So when you woke up and saw that Jermajesty had sent you seventeen messages, you immediately locked your phone again.
Samara, who was laying in the bed across from you, noticed.
âYou gonna keep doing that?â
You glanced over at her. âDoing what?â You tried to feign ignorance.
âActing like you donât see that man blowing your phone up.â
You rolled your eyes, turning onto your back. âHeâll be fine.â
âGirl, he is probably going through it.â
âYouâre the one who convinced me to act like this.â
Samara raised an eyebrow. âYeah, but the whole point was to get him to lose his mind. Heâs definitely lost it.â
âYeah wellâŚâ You didnât have a retort. Truthfully, you didnât think you could speak to him yet. His lack of trust and demands upset you. You needed time to cool off.
You let out a sigh, not really feeling much better after the few days youâve been gone.
You looked at her. âDon't.â
âI didn't say anything.â She threw her hands up, turning away from you and heading to the bathroom.
You shouted towards her disappearing figure, âYou were about to.â
âI was.â The bathroom door shut with a laugh on the other side.
You groaned, grabbing your phone. The messages were mostly the same.
Jermajesty: So you just not gonna talk to me?
Jermajesty: I see you posting.
Jermajesty: You being petty now?
That last one made your eyebrows raise.
You knew that âaightâ wasn't actually an âaightâ.
That was his version of saying he was done trying.
And for some reason, that irritated you more than all the other messages combined.
You locked your phone again.
âDon't start feeling bad now,â Samara said, reappearing from the bathroom to quickly grab her bag.
âYou look like you do.â
âI don't.â You were stubborn.
She shrugged. âOkay.â
You sighed, throwing the covers off of yourself.
You weren't going to let him ruin your trip.
Jermajesty had officially reached his limit by the time you came back.
He had spent the entire four days going back and forth between being angry and missing you.
One minute, he was convinced you were being immature and childish. The next, he was staring at pictures of you and wondering if you were having fun.
He didn't like how easily you had gone quiet. He didn't like how you could disappear when you were upset. And more than anything, he didn't like how familiar it felt.
Because this wasn't the first time.
You had done this before.
Whenever you felt unheard, you shut him out.
And whenever you shut him out, Jermajesty got angry.
One he was tired of repeating.
So when he heard the front door open, he didn't get up immediately. He stayed sitting on the couch.
A few seconds later, you walked into the living room with your bags. You stopped when you saw him.
He looked tired. You didn't say anything. Neither did he.
You set your bags down. âHi.â
Jermajesty looked at you, annoyance on his face. âHi?â
âYou been gone for four days.â
âYou ignored me for four days.â
You crossed your arms. âYou told me not to go.â
His jaw tightened. âAnd you went anyway.â
âBecause you weren't listening to me.â Your voice started to raise.
He shook his head. âSo your solution was to just leave and ignore me?â
The part you hated. The part where you knew he had a point.
You looked down at your feet, unable to look at him. âI didn't want to argue.â
He sighed, rising up from the couch to stand in front of you. âSo you just shut me out?â
âI told you how I felt.â
âAnd I told you how I felt.â
You look up to him. âYou told me I couldn't go.â
âBecause I didn't trust the situation!â Now he was getting loud.
You looked at him sharply. âAnd that's the problem!â
Jermajesty shook his head in frustration. âNo, the problem is that every time we have an argument, you disappear!â
âBecause you don't listen!â You repeated, poking a finger into his chest.
âBecause you stop talking!â
âWhat's the point of talking to you if you're just going to decide that your feelings matter more?â
That shut him up. The anger on his face faltered.
You immediately regretted saying it. But you were tired. Tired of feeling like you had to scream to be heard. Tired of feeling like every conversation turned into a battle. Tired of feeling like he only wanted to listen after you had already emotionally checked out.
Your voice got quieter. âI wasn't trying to punish you.â
âI know.â His voice was quiet.
âI just⌠I didn't want to spend the entire trip fighting with you.â
He looked back to you and you could see the hurt on his face. âYou could've answered me.â
âYou could've told me you were okay.â
You let out a shaky breath, looking down at your feet again. âI know.â
He looked back at you. âBut you didn't.â
You swallowed, throat getting tight at the confrontation. âNo.â
Jermajesty sighed, rubbing his hands over his face.
âAnd I shouldn't have told you that you couldn't go.â
He continued before you could say anything.
âI don't get to decide where you go. I was being insecure. I was worried about Miami, and I let that turn into me trying to control the situation.â
âBut you ignoring me for a whole week wasn't okay either.â
Your eyes focused on nothing over his shoulder.
âI know.â This one came out rougher.
You looked up at him. âYes.â You nodded your head.
You could tell he wanted to stay angry.
But he missed you. And you missed him too.
âI was mad,â you admitted. âAnd when I feel like someone isn't listening to me, I just⌠shut down.â
You paused for a moment. âI don't do it to hurt you.â
He sighs tiredly. âIt still hurts.â
You nodded slowly. âI know.â
Jermajesty was quiet for a moment.
Then he walked a step closer..
You blinked, taken aback.
âOn your little girls trip.â
Despite yourself, a small smile appeared on your face. âYeah.â
Jermajesty brought one hand to cup the side of your throat, lifting your head up to match his stare. âPosted a lot.â
You already knew your answer before asking. âYou were watching?â
You laughed softly. âI know.â
âDon't laugh.â He was smiling now too.
âYou were stalking my Instagram?â
âI was checking on you.â
He gave you a look. âMore like every two seconds.â
And just like that, some of the tension in the room started to disappear.
There were still things you needed to talk about.
The way he tried to control the situation.
The way you shut down and disappeared whenever you felt unheard.
Neither of you could keep doing this.
But for now, Jermajesty brought his arms around you, pulling you in.
You let him. His face buried into your neck.
âYou pissed me off,â he muttered. He gave your neck one kiss.
You wrapped your arms around him, burrowing your face into his chest.
âYou pissed me off first.â
He squeezed you tighter. âDon't start.â
You smiled into him. âI'm just saying.â
He pulled back enough to look at you.
You rolled your eyes. âUnfortunately.â
You shook your head, but you were smiling now.
The argument wasn't completely solved.
But at least this time, you were both finally listening.
