The next morning, you wake up before Jermajesty.
You’re still tucked against his side, your head resting on his chest and one of his arms wrapped securely around your waist.
His breathing is slow and even. You smile to yourself.
There’s something about waking up next to him that feels different now.
You can’t quite put your finger on it.
Jermajesty is holding you like he has no intention of letting go.
You slowly reach up, brushing a piece of hair away from his face.
His eyes remain closed. You smile. Then you poke him.
Nothing.
You poke him again.
Still nothing.
You poke his cheek. “Jermajesty.”
He makes a noise.
You laugh quietly. “Jermajesty.”
“Mm.”
“Wake up.”
He lightly shakes his head. “No.”
“You’re awake.”
“I’m not.”
“You just answered me.”
He buries his face into the top of your head. “That was my subconscious.”
You laugh, trying to move out of his arms.
His hand immediately tightens around your waist. “Stop.”
“You’re so clingy.”
“Yes.” The answer comes so quickly that you laugh.
“At least you’re honest.”
He finally opens one eye, looking down at you. “You’re the one trying to leave.”
“I’m not leaving.”
His hand goes up to your cheek, holding your face. “Then stay.”
You look at him for a moment before settling back against his chest.
“Happy?”
“Very.”
He presses a kiss to the top of your head.
You smile.
For a while, neither of you says anything. There’s no rush to get up.
No awkwardness. No tension hanging between you.
Just the two of you, enjoying the quiet.
Eventually, the villa begins to wake around you.
You hear doors opening, people talking, and someone laughing loudly from the hallway.
Jermajesty groans. “Why is everyone awake?”
“Because it’s morning.”
His hold on you tightens. “I don’t like mornings.”
“You were awake yesterday morning before me.”
“That was different.”
“How?”
The only response you get is a smile, his eyes still closed from sleep.
You shake your head, but you’re smiling too as you finally sit up.
Jermajesty immediately reaches for your hand.
You look down at it. “What?”
“Nothing.” He gives your hand a kiss.
The two of you eventually make your way downstairs together, still holding hands.
The villa is already full of energy.
Mira and Sakari are arguing over who gets to use the bathroom first, Celina is sitting at the kitchen counter with a drink, and Hiro is feeding Maddie Rae candy ropes.
The morning passes easily.
You sit around with everyone, talking about the recoupling and teasing each other about the speeches from the night before.
Sakari, of course, has opinions. “I still think my speech was better.”
Mira looks at him. “You didn’t give a speech.”
“Exactly. I was mysterious.”
“You were standing there waiting for your name to be called.”
“Very mysterious.”
You laugh, leaning against Jermajesty.
His arm immediately settles around your shoulders.
He presses a kiss to your temple. You try to hide your smile.
You fail.
You’ve come to notice he does that a lot. Some form of physical contact. Always.
You’re definitely not one to complain.
A phone suddenly chimes.
Everyone goes quiet.
Mira grabs it first. “Oh my God.”
You sit up. “What?”
She stares at the screen. “No way.”
Sakari immediately stands, becoming impatient. “What is it?”
Mira reads the text aloud.
“Islanders, today you will be welcoming some very special guests into the villa. Get ready for Family Day! #MeetTheParents #FamilyFirst.”
The entire villa erupts.
You freeze.
Jermajesty looks at you.
You look at him. “Oh my God.”
“Your family is coming.”
“Your family is coming.”
You both say it at the same time.
Then you start laughing.
Sakari looks between the two of you.
“Why are you both acting like this is the most terrifying text we’ve ever received?”
You point at him.
“Because I know my mom is coming.”
Jermajesty nods. “And I bet my dad is coming.”
Sakari’s eyes widen. “Wait. Your dad?”
Jermajesty nods.
“Yeah.”
“Like, your actual dad?”
Jermajesty stares at him. “Yes, Sakari. My actual dad.”
Sakari looks even more alarmed. “Your dad is Jermaine Jackson.”
“Why are you saying it like that?”
“Because that is your dad!”
You start laughing.
Jermajesty shakes his head. “Relax.”
“I’m not relaxed! I’m about to meet Jermaine Jackson!”
“You’re not meeting him.”
“Your dad is coming into the villa!”
Jermajesty turns towards you. “Why is he more nervous than me?”
You smile.
“Because he’s dramatic.”
The rest of the morning is spent getting ready.
Everyone is nervous. Everyone is excited.
The villa is cleaned from top to bottom.
People change outfits more than once.
Mira is fixing her hair for the fourth time.
Sakari keeps pretending he isn’t nervous.
Eventually, the families begin arriving.
You’re antsy waiting for your family to show up. But you’re also nervous to meet Jermajesty’s family.
Despite not caring about his last name, this feels much bigger than meeting any other family from your previous partners.
You hope they like you.
You spot your mom first, and you’re overcome with too many emotions to describe.
For a moment, you don’t even move. It’s been weeks.
Weeks of not seeing her, hearing her voice.
Weeks of wondering what she was doing and what she thought about everything happening in here.
You had gotten used to the villa. You had gotten used to the cameras. You had gotten used to the strange feeling of living your life while knowing that somewhere outside, your family was going on with theirs.
But nothing could make you prepared for seeing your mom standing in front of you again.
Then she smiles. And you immediately run towards her.
“Mom!”
You catch Jermajesty jogging over to his family out of the corner of your eye, but all your focus goes to the woman in front of you.
She catches you in a hug. You hold onto her tightly. “I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too, baby.”
You pull back, looking at her. “You look so good.”
“So do you.”
You laugh, already feeling overwhelmed by the fact that she is actually standing in front of you.
“I have so much to tell you.”
Your mom smiles. “I know. And I have so much to ask you.”
You laugh. “Did you watch everything?”
She gives you a look.
“I have watched enough.”
You immediately become suspicious.
“What does that mean?”
“It means I have watched enough to know that I need to ask you several questions.”
“Mom.”
She laughs. “I’m not going to interrogate you right now. I just got you back.”
You smile.
Then your sister appears behind her.
You turn and immediately let out a squeal. “Oh my God!”
She hugs you tightly. “I missed you!”
“I missed you too!”
“You look so good!”
“So do you!”
The two of you hold onto each other for a few moments longer before finally pulling apart.
Your sister looks at you. “I have approximately seven hundred questions.”
You laugh. “I know.”
“And I want answers.”
“I figured.”
“Some of the things I saw on that screen were not making sense to me.”
You immediately look at your mom. “Mom, she’s already starting.”
Your mom shakes her head. “She waited several weeks. Let her have this.”
You laugh.
Then your sister’s attention shifts. She looks over your shoulder. You already know exactly who she’s looking at.
Jermajesty is standing a few feet away, watching the reunion with a smile alongside his own family.
”Guys, this is Jermajesty. Maj, this is my mom and sister.”
He gives them a smile, your mom pulling him in for a hug.
You can see the surprise on his face, but he doesn’t hesitate to hug her back.
There’s a pause.
Your sister looks at you. “So this is him?”
You cover your face. “Oh my God.”
Jermajesty looks between the two of you. “I’m assuming I’m him.”
Your sister smiles slightly, although it’s more scary than sweet. “You are.”
You’re unable to catch anything either of them say to one another because you’re pulled in for your own hug.
“Miss Y/N!” A soft spoken voices in your ear.
Pulling back, Jermaine speaks again. “It’s very nice to meet you.”
You can only smile. “It’s nice to meet you too, sir.”
Jermaine immediately shakes his head. “I’m too young for you to call me sir. Just call me Jermaine.”
From behind him a voice mutters, “Lord, here he go.”
The guy from behind steps forward. “Hi Y/N, I’m Jafaar. I don’t know how you’ve put up with my brother for this long.”
Hearing his brother trash him, Jermajesty brings his attention back to his own family. “Man back up outta her face.”
A hand pulls you back by the waist before you’re able to respond, but the laugh you let out answers for you.
Seeing both your family and Jermajesty’s in front of you feels surreal.
Jermaine pipes up again. “So.”
Jermajesty immediately looks suspicious. “So?”
Jermaine smiles. “So you're the one.”
Jermajesty closes his eyes.
“Dad.”
“What? I’m just saying hello.”
“You don't have to say it like that.”
Jermaine looks at you.
”I’m just trying to figure out how you managed to secure this beautiful young woman.”
You laugh.
Jermajesty looks at his father. “Why is everybody acting like I’m impossible?”
Jafaar answers immediately. “Because you are.”
Jermaine nods. “Your brother has a point.”
Jermajesty looks betrayed. “Y’all can leave.”
“We just got here,” Jermaine says.
“And already I’m being attacked.”
Jermaine pats his shoulder. “That's family.”
You laugh.
Jermaine continues on. “I’ve been watching the show.”
Jermajesty immediately looks at him. “Dad.”
“What?”
“Please.”
Jermaine turns to you. “I’m not going to embarrass him.”
Jafaar laughs. “That means you’re absolutely going to embarrass him.”
Jermaine points at him. “You're not helping.”
“You brought me.”
“I did not bring you.”
“Technically, you did.”
Jermaine looks back at you. “See what I have to deal with?”
You smile. “I'm starting to understand.”
Jermajesty looks at you. “Don't encourage them.”
Jermaine smiles. “She's already learning.”
You laugh.
The two families eventually begin talking together.
Your mom and Jermaine find themselves discussing family. Your sister and Jafaar quickly begin teasing you and Jermajesty together.
You have no idea how it happens so quickly. One minute, everyone is introducing themselves. The next, Jafaar is telling your sister something embarrassing about Jermajesty.
“He was always dramatic.”
Jermajesty looks at him. “Jafaar.”
“What? It's true.”
Your sister looks delighted. “Really?”
“Absolutely.”
You point at Jafaar. “Keep going.”
Jermajesty’s head snaps to you. “You're supposed to be on my side.”
“And I want to hear this.”
Jafaar laughs.
Jermaine shakes his head. “You're going to regret encouraging him.”
“I already regret everything.”
Your sister points at Jermajesty. “So he was always stubborn?”
“Always.”
Jermajesty looks at his dad for support. “Dad.”
Jermaine nods. “Very stubborn.”
Jermajesty looks around at everyone. “I don't like Family Day anymore.”
You smile. “You were excited this morning.”
“I was misled.” Jermaine looks at him.
“You're learning something important today.”
Jermajesty looks suspicious. “What?”
“You can run away from the villa, but you cannot run away from your family.”
Jermajesty shakes his head. “That was terrible.”
Jermaine smiles. “I'm your father. I don't have to be funny.”
“You're saying that because you know you weren't funny.”
“I’m saying it because I’m wise.”
For the next little while, you finally get the chance to catch your family up on everything.
You explain what the villa is actually like.
You tell them about the challenges.
You talk about the people you've met.
You answer questions about the recoupling.
Your sister has questions about everything. “Where’s that bitch Summer at?”
You can’t help the laugh you let out. “You seen the episode. She’s gone.”
The look on your sister’s face is one of pure disgust. “Yeah, but I was hoping I’d see her on the way out or something.
You shake your head, not surprised at her statement. “I hope she’s long gone.”
“You let her off too easy. Should’ve punched that lying hoe in the face.”
You laugh harder. “And get kicked off?”
She shrugs. “Would’ve been worth it. You’d have my full support.”
Your mom chimes in. “But you’re happy now?”
You smile. “Yeah. Very.”
Your mom smiles. “Then that's what matters.”
The afternoon continues with more food, more stories, and far too much teasing.
Your mother and Jermajesty get along immediately.
Your mom asks him questions about his family. He asks her questions about you. Your sister tells him stories about you that you absolutely did not give her permission to share.
You stare at her in disbelief. “You are supposed to be my sister.”
“I am.”
“You're betraying me.”
“I'm bonding with your boyfriend.”
You look at Jermajesty. “Boyfriend?”
He smiles, gap showing.
You immediately point at him. “Don't.”
“I didn't say anything.”
“You were thinking something.”
“I was.”
Your sister laughs. “You two are ridiculous.”
You’re sad when your family has to leave. It feels like they just got here, but you know they’re unable to stay for long.
You’re a little ways away from Jermajesty and his family when you’re giving your final goodbyes.
While giving your sister a hug, you say to her “You know, you’re more accepting of Jermajesty than I thought you’d be.”
She grins at you. “While you were busy cosying up to the in-laws, I made sure to instill fear.”
You pause, looking between her and your mother. “What…does that mean?”
“I told him he was a dumbass and that if he ever hurt you again, I know a couple people.”
You can’t help the surprised laugh you let out. “Oh my God. You threatened him?”
She gives you an incredulous look. “Duh. Don’t ask dumb questions.”
You’re slow in your response, a little nervous for the answer. “So do you not like him?”
She pauses. “No I do. He made up for it.”
Your mom chimes in. “He apologized to us.”
That takes you aback.
“He what…”
Your mom nods. “He apologized for the way acted and wanted us to know he’d never do it again.” The smile on your mom’s face shows how much the words meant. “He apologized for disrespecting you and wanted us to know that he’s gonna work to gain our trust too.”
There are tears starting to form in your eyes.
He apologized to your family. Without telling you. He just did it.
“I like him for you.” Your mom finishes.
You’re not able to respond, Jermajesy and his family making their way over to you to say goodbye one last time. Them inviting you and your family over for a cookout once out the villa.
Jermajesty stands beside you, hand on your hip.
Jermaine eyes the two of you. “Production needs to send you two to the hideaway.”
You freeze. Jermajesty freezes.
The entire conversation around you seems to stop.
You stare at him. “What?”
Jermaine gestures between the two of you. “The hideaway.”
“Dad, how do you even know what that is?” Jermajesty’s hands are running down his face.
You burst out laughing.
Jermajesty looks at you. “You’re laughing?”
“I’m sorry.”
“You’re not.”
“I’m really not.”
Jermaine’s face shows no shame in his statement. “Look at him. He’s embarrassed.”
“I'm not embarrassed.”
Jermaine raises his eyebrows. “You’re sitting there with your head down.”
“I'm thinking.”
“About the hideaway?”
“Dad.”
Everyone bursts into laughter.
Jermajesty drops his head into his hands.
Jermaine smiles. “Family Day is going very well.”
You into Jermajesty, trying to talk so only he can hear. “Your dad just sent us to the hideaway.”
“I know.”
“In front of both of our families.”
“I know. I was there.”
Your sister leans over. “We can still hear you.”
You immediately cover your face.
Jermajesty drops his head back.
Jafaar starts laughing, enjoying his brother’s humiliation.
Jermaine looks at the two of you. “Listen, I'm only teasing you.”
Jermajesty looks at him. “Are you?”
“Yes.”
“Because you sounded very serious.”
“I am serious about one thing.”
Jermajesty waits. Jermaine looks at him. “Take care of her.”
The laughter quiets slightly.
Jermajesty's expression softens. “I will.”
Jermaine nods. “I think you will.” Then he pats Jermajesty's shoulder. “But I still think you should go to the hideaway.”
The entire group erupts again.
Jermajesty looks at the sky. “Why did you have to ruin the serious moment?”
Jermaine laughs.
“Because you were getting too emotional.”
Everyone bids their final goodbyes, and both sets of families finally leave.
Family Day had been a success.
And for the first time since Casa Amor—
You weren't just hoping that you and Jermajesty would make it.
You actually believed you would.
