Comics and Nonsense.

I've never liked Patreon's minimum tier pricing — I get why they do it, but times are tough, and asking people to pay five dollars a month for a few comic pages feels like a big ask, even with all the extras added in. I'm not leaving Patreon, it's a great platform and I genuinely appreciate what they do for creators and I love each and every one of my supporters— I just wanted to be able to offer something more accessible alongside it.

So I've set up Ko-fi tiers that I think actually are!

$1/month — Hi-res and uncensored (where that's applicable, don't get too excited! It won't happen often) pages, so you can see all the weird little details that get shrunk down in the web-sized version, or just to throw a little support to a free comic you enjoy! The dream is to do this full time at 2–3 pages a week, of course, but we're a good while off from that. Getting there means building the support to make it possible! If it happens, this tier gets those pages early, same as the $3 tier.

$3/month — Hi-res, uncensored pages plus the same extras I post on Patreon: full-page timelapses, lore bits, sneak peeks when I can share them without being too spoilery (including the parts of the novel i can share without ruining the plot), and a little more of the behind-the-scenes personal stuff. (First-generation internet kid here — we learned early not to overshare in public places!)

Really sad news, everyone.

Rupert Giles, you phenomenal character. Anthony Head, you incredible actor, who brought such subtlety to this role. At times dark, at times comedic, always hot.

Luo Li Rong’s Bold, Graceful Figurative Sculptures

Luo Li Rong’s figurative sculptures evoke movement and intrigue, whether it’s the artist’s feminine, graceful figures or her otherworldly creatures. The China-born, Belgium-based artist has received several high honors, including commissions for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. A statement talks about the varied influences of the sculptor.

“In Belgium she remains true to her principles,” Art Center HOres says. “She continues with her work and concentrates on the techniques of the sculptors of Europe from the Renaissance, Baroque and other periods. Her sculptures dazzle the viewer with their beauty, craftsmanship and above all femininity.”

The artist is a graduate of the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts.

There should be more opportunities for black creators at DC and there should be more stories for characters like Nubia, Steel, Vixen, The Signal, Mr Terrific, everyone from Milestone and more.

Even if you're not a comics buyer, you can still sign the petition and you can share your favorite independent comics from black creators. I'll start: Everyone should read Prince of Cats by Ronald Wimberly.

Another fan fic concept, I wanted to make a short comic, but I've been so busy and tired that it reduced to a single illustration. It's based on a short NINAH fan comic I drew a while ago featuring my fan OC, The Waitress/ Yolanda.

Long story short: Yolanda is a woman who was a victim of a stalker long before the cataclysm. When the disaster started, her stalker became a visitor and this guy turned out to be no other than the Pale Man, making this woman seek refuge in the protagonist's house. When the Pale Man found out she was in there, instead of breaking in and abducting her due a series of rules said by a major entity, he places a condition: he will watch the house and roam its surroundings until she leaves the house.

This causes the Pale Man to murder any human that approaches the house, except for FEMA agents who take people away. It gets to a point the Pale Man murders the delivery people who go to leave resources to the house, making food and medicine become scarce and causing tension among the hungry survivors in the home. This lead to three potential fates: the guests and the Homeowner kick Yolanda out in order to save themselves, other is that the Homeowner stands his ground and protects Yolanda from the other guests and her stalker and another option is that Yolanda herself decides to offer herself in order to save the others, especially this would happen if there are children in the house.

This is the outcome where she willfully leaves the house in order to protect everyone else. Some guests would say she's stupid and her escape from her house was useless, others would think she played "hard to get" and now that he's more powerful she decided to say yes to him, others that she was selfish by bringing her problems into the house, others that this sacrifice is dumb and she should have think about herself in a situation like this, but the Homeowner knows she gave up and, in her defeat, she still decided to make the best of it by helping him and the other guests in the home regardless of their critics against her.

They tried to kill us, but they did not succeed. And we owe so much thanks to the other oppressed peoples, in particular the Choctaw Nation and the Masai, who sent money and grain to us.

Let me repeat that. The Choctaw Nation who had just gone through the Trail of Tears sent us money to try save Irish lives. It’s led to an understanding between Irish people and Native American tribes, most recently when we donated to the Navajo and Hopi fundraisers for COVID-19 relief, because while it may be a different tribe, Irish people will never forget those who helped us and we’ll help back.

The entire population of the island is less than seven million people. We’re still a million less on this island than pre famine. And it’s not that long ago. My grandmother’s grandparents lived through it. We’ve told the stories, it literally changed the DNA of the country. We have a national fear of renting, because so many people were evicted. People joke about Irish people always offering loads of food, but it’s because there’s that cultural memory of not being able to.
