First tip is the most obvious tip. Don’t accept any files over Discord from a “friend” if they are asking for help for a game they claim to be developing. That’s the first sign that you will be next to get hacked. 

If you end up getting tricked and get hacked into, immediately change your password and email. The moment you get your account’s email changed that wasn’t done by you, that’s when you know it’s too late to stop the hacker. If your account has your credit card info for Nitro subscriptions,, try to cancel the number and get a new card issued because the hacker will try to use your card to get nitro gifts issued. This has happened to me when I was hacked. I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else.

If you want to get help from Discord, be patient with them. Especially during the weekend, since it seems most of these hacks I’ve witnessed and mine happened on a Friday, so response from Discord’s help service will be slow around these days. If you end up registering a new account, but still want to get help from Discord, be sure to use a different email as to not have them accidentally do something with your new account instead of the hacked one.
