About & Info
Who are you? I'm Jane, aka TheEdwardianWriter around the interwebs. (Including here on tumblr.) My day job is managing the collection at a western history museum. I also knit copiously, spin yarn, do calligraphy, write novels, and am working on researching a nonfiction book.
Last August I finally got a diagnosis for the chronic illness that's been causing me grief my whole life, and have been going through the process of processing that information and reinterpreting my entire life through new filters. I figured with my newly acquired digital art skills, I might as well apply these two things in one fell swoop.
What's your chronic illness? My chronic illness. I'm not yet ready to share a lot of details publicly, and would appreciate no speculation. You are entitled to your own opinions.
Do you have any art training? No. I've been doing traditional, pen and ink calligraphy since 2014 and just acquired a drawing tablet this year. I use Procreate and whatever brushes strike my fancy at the moment, and read a lot of books as a kid that my sibling had about perspective and drawing.
Do you know a lot about pottery? Not really. I've studied some but never considered myself an expert. Working in a mixed museum collection I consider myself an artifact generalist--I love learning about things that I know nothing about, and getting to discover more of the beautiful diversity of things humans create.
